That WCU feeling
That WCU feeling
So this is what WCU fans feel like every Saturday night during football season. But, look on the bright side, we move up next year to tougher competition! SMH!
Re: That WCU feeling
Don't know who Patrick is, first post on this new format. Many post on the old message board. Just wondering how many pro-FBSer's on here will be in permanent meltdown when the jug heads to the whee at the end of the season.

I hope I am wrong, but we may never see the jug again.
If we schedule them for a home game in the future will it still be for the jug?

Re: That WCU feeling
The jug means very little going forward.
The SoCon and FCS chapter of App football is about to be closed with three national titles, 12 SoCon championships, and complete domination in the WCU series. One loss to them this season and one very bad year is not the end of the world.
I'm ready to start a new chapter and embrace the challenges at the next level.
I'll be at all the games the remainder of the year and for many years to come.

Nothing disgusts me more than seeing people relish in App's struggles just so they can say "I told you so" regarding the move to FBS.

Probably amount the same as there are anti-FBSer's. How on earth could you attribute this season to the FBS move?athiker65 wrote:Just wondering how many pro-FBSer's on here will be in permanent meltdown when the jug heads to the whee at the end of the season.
It seems you haven't spent all this time you've had away from the message board doing any research or keeping up with App sports. Get a clue.

This. It's why I have such I have a hard time respecting certain posters.BurlingtonApp wrote:Nothing disgusts me more than seeing people relish in App's struggles just so they can say "I told you so" regarding the move to FBS.
And on top of the disrespect and self-serving BS involved with that kind of behavior, it doesn't even make any sense. If we were facing a 1-win season next year, their doom and gloom garbage might have more weight as attributed to the FBS move. But right now App is FCS, playing FCS opponents, and still facing a 1/2 win season.
App's announcement that we will be playing in the highest level of college football remains the only good thing to happen to the program in 2013.

I don't know athiker65 from Adam but I do know he posted a lot more on the old board before you ever showed up. How about showing a little tact every now and then. One doesn't have to come across so harshly (get a clue statement) to make a point. I personally think he was just asking a question as to fan behaviors.

Re: That WCU feeling
It's the timing of his post that has some feathers ruffled. He waited to join this board when we are at an all-time low in order to stir the pot. Where was athiker when we switched to the new board?YesAppCan wrote:Gonzo,Gonzo wrote:Probably amount the same as there are anti-FBSer's. The die hard FBSer's probably don't care about the jug. IMO at this point in this season it is all that is left. Honestly someone in jest said they would smash it before they let it go to Whee pemanently. I will bring the hammer by god.

The only good spot if they win and keep "The Jug" is that their prized possession will be covered with our name. I can only imagine people looking at it and saying "Wow, AppState did win it a lot didn't they".

Re: That WCU feeling
I am a proponent of making the move to the FBS, and getting the program to the next level, however I'm not ready to absolve that decision from all responsibility for the current win-loss issues. Who is really to say one way or the other that this season would have been strikingly different if these kids were playing for a 13th SoCon title and another trip to an early exit from the tournament we once owned? Most of us will never know if the FBS decision did or did not play a role in Jerry Moore debacle (his dismissal and/or the resulting quagmire he and Cobb are responsible for creating).
The answers to these questions will never be known, but I will tell you that I firmly believe even the worst of possible answers and a loss of the Jug is worth advancing this program into the future. Languishing in the past is never the answer for the future.
Just like the mountains that surround campus, time warn majesties that hod the beauty of "God's bakyard," perhaps there are hard days and losses ahead, but the Mountaineers will endure and rise once again to new and greater glory!

The only "I told you so" you'd hear from me would be that GSU and App didn't move up SOON ENOUGH.
....well that and you shouldn't have taken that goat from behind without warning her...ouch...
