Can't throw the ball

Seriously, what was the difference today. Has he improved? Is GSU that bad? Did the coaches just not trust him to throw long before today. He has done it a few times I know but we really attacked their seconday today like we have not done this year. He was very accurate all over the field today. Looked very good IMO. He did scare me a couple times throwing into coverage but it worked out for him.

Overall this looked like a different team today. Lots of emotion and intensity. This was App State Football. Great job guys. Now go out and FINISH STRONG!!!

Our WR routs looked a lot shorter today and we threw it deep to about 3 or 4 different receivers the play calling was the difference here.

It all starts with the offensive line.

The difference was the OL played their best game of the year. Provided Kam with decent protection and allowed his to step up in the pocket and set his feet. Fewer check downs to underneath routes and he was given time to make the longer throws.

O-line actually held up despite 3 penalties on the LG. Throwing into a young secondary down the middle of the field helped too! Seams were wide open all day...we need to get a TE involved at some point.

Not to rain on the parade because the boys played some good football today, but I was watching the game online and I could tell whether the play was a run or pass by the way Lamm took his stance.

I've been saying each game that I saw some things improve each game and noticed other things that still needed work. Today's game was a complete game all 'round. The only downside IMO was Drew Stewart's kicks not getting any height on them at all.

One thing I will say about Kam's throwing is that his passes don't seem to have the same velocity I'm used to seeing from other QB's. Today's passes were much cleaner and much more accurate. After the first TD, Kam also played with more confidence.

The O-line was key today in getting Kam a little time.

As a side note, it was great to see JLJ running out to congratulate Kam and leading a fair amount of cheering. That type of senior leadership will help in the last part of the season.

We did throw to the TE twice that I recall. Once was a completion for a first down near the goal line and once was a non-completion.

He did throw down field. It was not the end of the game and it was not their second team. And we won. Yes the OL was much better but the play calling was also much better. Keep him throwing down field. He can do it if you let him.

Yes I thought the same thing. It is a good sign of their improvement. But go back and look at his setup on runs and passes and you will see what I'm talking about.

As usual you are spot on. Kam was throwing into some tight windows and had some good zip on the out routes. The young man seems to be getting more comfortable with the offense and it is showing in the play calling and his abilities. I too saw great leadership from JLJ on the sidelines, (from what I could see on TV), and that leadership has been lacking in the past.

On a side note, it was enjoyable to watch the game on ESPN 3. Paul Maguire is great. I would watch that guy call a chess match.

Does anyone think Kam's arm strength is something that could be improved in the off-season? Or at his age is it as strong as it's going to be? His accuracy was great today, but I noticed the same thing about the lack of velocity. Great game young man.

I will have to disagree with you on his velocity. He made some throws that can't be made without velocity. The one thing that I saw that made a difference was that he was able to step into some throws and drive the ball.

Kam made some great throws today but it can't be forgotten our receivers made some great catches

I think the OL and Kam grew up a little bit today. Great effort by the entire App Team and by App Nation.

Completely agree.... Sometimes it's the feeling that you DID IT that makes you better than the feeling that you COULD DO IT.

We needed this game in more ways that simply a "W". Our team needed to know they could do it.

I have a feeling that many of these guys may have finally "bought into" the Satterfield regime...
