Band gets Reprimand

Does anyone know the actual rule with this? While our band doesn't seem to WANT to play between plays,

I've always wondered when music was supposed to "stop"....

I think the rule is the band has to stop playing when the offense breaks the huddle. Since a team like App never huddles the band should never play while we have the ball.

I've heard of this sort of thing before with 'piped in' music but never with a band.

Maybe It is just for piped in music. Otherwise, maybe it is just a judgement call by the ref.

I can understand not playing when our offense is on the field... but I've always wondered how far they COULD push the envelop with the band when we're on defense.
I always thought it was when the line got set....

A couple of years ago @ Furman, they kept the music going until we snapped the ball.

I was pleasantly surprised Saturday that the out of place annoying music was at a minimum and we could actually HEAR the BOD!!

A few years ago at the Citadel we were backed up close to the end zone and the scoreboard was blasting music. Armanti Edwards notified the refs and they had the music stopped.

Next they will say the fans can't yell or celebrate... Pretty soon it will be flag football .... No one wins or loses... Everyone makes the team and gets equal playing time and everyone gets a trophy!!!

Can I get second on its past time for a full body make over of the BOD? I suggest we pay whatever it takes to get the guy who put this together. Be sure you go full screen and turn the volume up - if at work put some headphones on. Be sure to watch the entire video because it gets really good at the 6:15 mark.

Anyone remember the "crowd noise rule" that the NFL put in briefly to try to deal with noise in dome stadiums? It was late 80's or early 90's. I remember the Saints sarcastically handing our cards to fans that said "Boo" on one side and "Yeh" on the other. Always thought that was hilarious.

Georgia Southern got a warning during the Chattanooga game a few weeks ago in Paulson. Apparently the rule is that the bands can play whenever they want unless the other team complains. When Sav State played at GSU for the season opener, they played non-stop through almost every offensive play and didn't get penalized due to GSU NOT complaining.

Officially, there is a NCAA rule. Page FR-93 of the NCAA 2013-2014 Rules and Interpretations (Rule 1-1-6). Very vague at best, but it's there...
"Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise
that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6)."
