I've been silently doing another countdown this season and now the Apps are down to just one more FCS game, then it's on to FBS. Like it or not it's soon upon us and I for one am looking forward to a new challenge. 8-)

A daunting GIANT new Mountain to climb for App, so let's get climbing, that's what Mountaineers are made to do. :D

GO APP!

Nine seniors have played all four years at App. Two of those (Karl Anderson and Adam Scott) returned following graduation to work on their MBAs and play their last year of eligibility.

Today at Wofford, I listened as Wofford saluted 24 seniors ... Yes, 24.

Next week App will salute the nine seniors who have played all four years at App and two that came in midway through. We'll also honor Ken Peacock and all of his gifts to the athletic side of life at Appalachian. Please be sure to get into the game early Saturday ... for the seniors, for the chancellor, for The Jug!

If someone told me before this year, you could have 4 wins only, your choice.
I would have chosen the 3 so far and the one to come.

I would have preferred a win over Furman to cut into the all-time series lead. That is the only SoCon team that has that advantage on us since we joined the SoCon, not counting William and Mary when they were SoCon from the 1970s, and both loses were pre-I-AA split.

A win at Furman would have been great. I would have liked to have seen the long streak of home wins over Chattanooga continue. That streak was impressive, but several streaks have been broken this year. It will be time to start some new ones soon! Beat Western and keep that Old Mountain Jug. Send the Seniors out with a win.

4 wins? I would have asked them if they were nuts.
(as I was looking for more like 10 )

The strange thing is two of the wins are vs. the current "big three" GSU and Wofford.

If my math is correct, we win over wcu and Furman beats Wofford will result in 3 teams at 6 and 2 and 4 teams at 4 and 4 in conference play. We are playing for a tie for second place. Man is that a glass half full observation!
