That game last night was the best football game I have ever seen.

And Saban was proved human, cause he blew it.

Have to disagree with you here --- don't think Saban blew it nor do I think Brady Hoke blew it - they made decisions to go for the win and neither worked - blowing it is something like Bobby Lamb did :o

I was telling my wife, as far as just craziest ends to a game, that Iron Bowl was right up there. Probably the only two I can think of to match it would be Cal-Stanford and the Go for 2 game vs. Furman.

But of course, the stakes in the game Saturday being so high take that one to another level.

Yes, the CAL-Stanford game was number 1 on the list. Surprisingly they had the Doug Flutie hail mary at number 4 (would have thought it would have been higher ranked) and had the Ohio St./Miami national title game controversial pass interference call as number 3 (not clue as to why this should even be in top 10). Number 2 was the Boise St statue of liberty play against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Stanford-Cal play is definitely the most bizarre/crazy.

But, I think the Iron Bowl finish is WAY BIGGER, because it actually meant something. The "band is on the field" game was between two .500 teams. The Iron Bowl finish played a role in who goes to the BCS championship.

With most of these plays, I always feel like we overlook how it got to the final play. The game-tying play, along with the 1 second left review, added to the drama of that final play. The same can be said for our game against Michigan and the Boise/OK game.

Going for it on 4th and 1 while in FG range up 28-21, then going for a FG outside the range of any kicker you have is blowing it.

Hoke didn't blow it. tOSU had the advantage in OT as that offense couldn't be stopped at that point.

I agree. I don't think you can only look at the last play in that you also have to appreciate the drama of the plays leading up to that final moment. Our ALL TIME UPSET had so many ups and downs it was crazy. Even if you are not a App State alum or fan it is one of those games you could watch again and again. The App upset over Michigan should have been ranked higher in the top ten list in my opinion.

Not saying I agree with all his decisions - I would have rather seen them try a hail mary on the last play - not having confidence in his regular kicker who had missed 3 already led to that 4th and 1 --- same kicker missed 4 (I think) in the loss to LSU a couple of years ago - I would doubt any coach knows his players better than Saban --- Going for the win, no problem with the decision ---

Trying an extremely long FG with only linemen, a holder & kicker to make a tackle in the open field doesn't seem like a great idea. They had no chance.

Even at that, what are the odds of 109 yard return with 1 second to go? Of course, what were the odds he would make it?

The word I heard is that he made several 60 yarders in practice - and give the kid credit - he was a yard short and a yard wide - when it first left and got into the air I thought he had made it ---

Easy to understand because the lack of exposure it received, but the Miracle on the Mountain finish was pretty darn good. Not only that it happened but how it happened. A pick then a lateral to a guy who runs 90 yards for the score avoiding tacklers along the way.

I was talking to my brother about the finish and he had said he had seen a missed FG run back for a TD but we could not remember even seeing an another game won on a missed 2 pointer going back the other way like the Miracle on the Mountain --- I think it is #1 ---

Yeah, I don't blame him in going for the win--especially because what happened is so unlikely. But, I'd have a hard time, as a coach, taking the ball out of the hands of my two-time national champion, Senior, and Heisman candidate QB to put it on the foot of a redshirt-freshman backup kicker.

Totally Agree ---

While the Miracle on the Mountain is personally #1, I'm not ready to rank it above the Iron Bowl. The likelyhood of a pick 6 on a 2-point conversion is a whole lot higher than a returned missed field goal. Just think about how many picks on 2-point conversions there are compared to how many filed goals are even caught in the field of play. Maybe in Canada, but in the US that never happens.

I don't think I have heard of another 2-pointer which went back for 2 to win a game ?

Well said and I think bizarre is the right term for the Stanford game, but as far as all time great finishes it doesn't even make my top 10. When this topic comes up I don't even think of that game.
