My situation exactly. I have been unable to navigate Yosef's Cabin for two weeks now. My laptop locks up using Firefox. Internet Explorer is like molasses. Using IE to post this response beacause Firefox is totally non-responsive.

Been thinking I had a virus.

I have had problems with IE, Chrome and Firefox. Loads really slow and sometimes freezes. Could it be the videos on the bottom? Is there a way to block those?

Are you using the registry cleaner software attached to the installation?

I've made a few changes on the back end to try and help speed up load times. Many users don't have any issues at all (even users without adblock). If you're using an old or out of date browser or computer, that may factor into some of it. It's also possible that we have outgrown the server we are on and there are simply too many requests coming in at the same time to access the site. I'll work to see if that's an issue and if it is and we'll upgrade servers if we need to.

I have noticed a few times there were too many MySQL connections and an error page was shown.. Other than that (a sign of too much traffic), I have not experienced many problems.

I've been having almost the exact same problems with Chrome, Firefox and IE. I also have a "new" slow-motion feature--which delays anything I key for a few seconds. I key a full sentence and then I have to wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to appear. The same is true if I need to back-space. I also get frequent flash player errors. I've tried a couple of registry utilities w/o success. It's driving me nuts. It has, for example, taken me more than 10 minutes to post this. Not gonna keep this up.

Imagine trying to build recruiting pages with the same problem. I've lessened it a little by using Chrome with AdBlock but the problem is that I can only half build the pages with it. I have to stop in the middle and then go to IE to add images and graphics like the stars plus adding the video links. It's not too bad when I'm editing but once I go to view or try to add to the threads I done for. It's killing my time trying to do it.

I'll have the same video ad come up in 4 or 5 windows at the bottom of the page, all running at different places. It's like being in a horror movie sometimes. Overlapping voices going on and on and on. Believe me I feel everyone's pain.

I run several websites and I have never run or visited another as bad as this. The advertising here has completely overwhelmed the content. The admins should switch to donations in lieu of ad revenue. It does not cost that much to run a site like this.

I am working to address the slowness. I do not experience that slowness on any of the laptops or browsers I tested at different locations, so it's difficult to nail down what's causing the issue. I have removed the video ads (they should not have been playing at all anyways, the ad network was asked to remove them and it sounds like they did not). The ads are actually the last thing that loads when the site loads, so I'm not sure it's the ads creating the issue. The more likely culprit is the integration of two platforms that do not integrate well. We have a lot of traffic here and it may be about time we upgrade servers to handle the load.

I won't switch to donations because anyone who has a donation to give to the Cabin, I'd rather they give it to the Yosef Club.

I made a few changes tonight so please let me know if you are still experiencing the issues.

After further research I can definitively say it is not the advertisements. It's due to the number of redirects used in phpbb and wordpress. I am working on a solution to address these issues.

I'm sure you're right about the redirects. They can be a pain. I should have stated my post better by saying MY problems are worse when there are ads, especially at the bottom of the page. The freezing/slowdown/typing letter drops and delays are at their worse then. It's been so bad that I thought, at first, that the keyboard on my laptop was going bad but my desktop was doing the same so I ran some tests and also tried different combinations and it's only here. When I run Chrome with AdBlock installed I don't have the typing issues but I can't work on the pages, as I said above, so I have to go to IE to finish them.

Just FYI, since you asked, I'm in IE 11 right now, as a test, and I'm having typing issues with this message. Dropped letters and delays in words appearing.

EDIT 1: I've switched to Chrome with AdBlock off and am still having typing issues.

EDIT 2: I've now switched AdBlock on and no typing issues (went above and typed some of the same lines that were dropping). Hope this gives you some more information to go on.

I'm no computer guru and I don't understand but I did a restore to an earlier "restore point" and my slowness problem went away. Makes me think some auto update caused my problem.
