Liberty question
Liberty question
So I've seen every excuse under the sun as to why this coaching staff can't put a competitive team on the field. So my question is, should we be able to beat Liberty? Should SS and the current coaching staff be able to take what they have and beat a good FCS team?

Re: Liberty question
With the exception of Campbell we have faced FBS teams all season. Thus, we are battle tested and facing an FCS team should be somewhat of a break. Then again, they are coming down to The Rock to prove a point. Will we be ready????MJ1988 wrote:So I've seen every excuse under the sun as to why this coaching staff can't put a competitive team on the field. So my question is, should we be able to beat Liberty? Re: Liberty question
Yes, we should beat Liberty. It will require better execution and more heart than the team showed yesterday though. Seems like every dang time the guys would get a little momentum or get something going, they commit an error that stops them. This young team should eventually learn to bounce back (They better learn fast) from setbacks like that. We need to come out and support this team. Complain on here all you want to, but this is our team for this year and again, yes we should beat Liberty.WataugaMan wrote:With the exception of Campbell we have faced FBS teams all season. Also, it looks like Liberty fans (and probably their band) must travel well. I was checking our ticket office site and sections 108, 109, & 209 are already sold out on the East (State!!!) side of Kidd Brewer for the Liberty game.

Re: Liberty question
Liberty has had this game circled for months. This is their Super Bowl. This is their statement to the Sun Belt. They are expecting to come to Boone and win convincingly. I hope there is someone, or some several, on our side who aren't willing to let that happen. Right now, I am not sure.

Re: Liberty question
Although they are FCS, a victory over Liberty would serve as a jump start this team needs. We are at Troy the week after Liberty and going into that contest with a W under our belts should help build some much needed confidence.
Re: Liberty question
Guys,
I'm not asking for a prediction. The question is not, will we beat Liberty, it's should we be able to beat Liberty? No excuses, should this coaching staff be able to take the players they have right now and beat a good FCS team ?

Re: Liberty question
We should be able to beat Liberty.
We should be able to kick a field goal.
We should be able to stop an offense.
We should be able to play four quarters.
We should be able to score in the red zone.
We should be able to look prepared.

Re: Liberty question
We will beat Liberty like we own them. Write it down and please call me on it if we do not. This team wants to win. They are making mistakes, Lamb looked like crap in the last game but I liked what they were asking him to do and the guys were open. Clean it up and we are sitting different right now. We will take them to the curb by Gosh. I can not wait to get back to God's Country.
Re: Liberty question
Just because we have been "battle tested" has no bearing on beating Liberty. We are pretty much like last year and maybe worse. Just because we are wearing big boy pants now has no bearing on this have imo.
I'm worried and I am bringing 4 Liberty family members to the game with me.
Liberty will be pumped!

Re: Liberty question
Liberty is coming off two straight FCS losses, this could get CAMPBELL ugly.

Re: Liberty question
An interesting note... Liberty started out very slowly against Richmond yesterday... They were down 15-0 after 1st quarter. Something's got to give with us or them next Saturday... Perhaps nobody scores.

Re: Liberty question
They lost in OT to UR and lost on the road to 4-1 Indiana State. We are not playing another Campbell.ASUPATCH wrote:Liberty is coming off two straight FCS losses, this could get CAMPBELL ugly.

Hey Liberty Flames.....
Welcome to Yosef's WaterWorld
Liberty is a good but not great FCS team. They should not be over looked but we have the talent and dept to beat them. But with the inconsistency we have seen with this squad there's really no telling what's going to happen. This could be a blow out, it could be a close game, it could be a loss. There's no telling.
I'm sure this won't be a case of them dominating us like we saw with USA. If we loose it will be one of those frustrating losses where we beat ourselves and have no business losing the game like with S. Miss. and several games last season.
Does anyone remember when several years back when Sam Rutigliano was the coach at Liberty. They came in for a homecoming game. We were expected to blow them out and it ended up being a close game with us barely pulling out a win.
Could this year be a repeat or sadly a revenge for history?
At least our volleyball team has been giving App State fans a reason not to hid under a rock (nice pun right).

Re: Liberty question
Don't look at Liberty's losses and assume anything. NC State struggled with GS, hung with Florida State and then get thumped by Clempsun.hapapp wrote:They lost in OT to UR and lost on the road to 4-1 Indiana State. Re: Liberty question
I think it fair to assume that they are better than Campbell. Don't assume because we are FBS and they are FCS that we will beat them 66-0.AppSt94 wrote:Don't look at Liberty's losses and assume anything.
