Football recruiting on this baord amusing?

Recruiting , coaching and playing should all be done to put the best product on the field. Give your all to App State!
1. There is nothing wrong with a some transfers. If there is need then GO FOR IT! Montana 2 years ago embarrassed us after we beat them in Boone mainly with a couple of transfers doing most of the damage!!!
2. If we have redshirt players bigger and better than they should be on field. This doing Satt's way to build is crap. How do we know what Satt's way is?? Why wait? Go 100% or higher now and every game!!
3. Comments on this board about the cold weather and wait til South Alabama comes to Boone. Well the starting lineup for App was loaded with players from the Atlanta area. I don't think we have any weather advantage with these recruits. Why can't we recruit in our own back yard or state more? We used to get some big linemen from Charlotte and Hickory areas but not anymore.
4. We need experienced offensive play calling. When the defense puts 5 or 6 rushers on the line, the quarterback is not going have a lot of time. There needs to be some sort of outlet pass or play calling to counter immediately. Play calling and adjustments are too slow.
5. Playing SEC or other BIG schools year after year and getting beat down is not building our reputation for recruits. I know the Michigan win did wonders but not year after year. Are we BIGTIME yet?

1.) What transfers do you speak of? Steven Miller [27 carries 91 yards (3.4 avg) and 2 TD] and who else?
2.) Coaches RS players to keep the classes as even as possible, to get players acclimated to the college game and new schemes and to give them time in a college S&C program.
3.) Yes the weather argument is pretty much null since App got the indoor practice facility. We still recruit the warm climates of the SE. There's a lot more competition for recruits now than back in the day. There are 3 somewhat new programs (ODU, UNCC and GAST) within our recruiting footprint. That's 255 new scholarships that didn't exist 5-6 years ago, not to mention GSU's additional 22.
4.) Offensive play calling hasn't been as atrocious as some would have it. I think execution has failed this team. I do agree that adjustments have been lacking, especially on D.
5.) Playing the P5 teams is still a "money" game, only now we're getting paid twice as much as before.

I agree there's nothing wrong with transfers. However, we aren't going to see as many at App going forward as we did when we were FCS, because we no longer have the advantage of being able to play them immediately rather than sitting out a year. I'm all for signing a few more jucos, though.
And the reason for recruiting Georgia is simple - there are more good players there than in NC, and fewer in-state P5 programs.

Unless a true freshman works his way onto the 2-deep by the beginning of the season he absolutely should be red-shirted (especially last year and this) - the reasons have been pointed out by Moonshine and others --- Also our offense is not the wasteland many seem to think it is --- We are averaging 400 yds of offense a game - take out Campbell and that number is 370 yds a game against a Big 10 team, and 2 of the top teams in the SB ---
Sorry, but I'm not sure what points you were trying to make?

Twice as much? Did we get double this time what we got the first time we played Michigan especially allowing for inflation?

I'm no economist and I'm not taking inflation into account but $1mil is 2.5x as much as the $400k from 2007. Feel free to account for inflation and let us know.

I had been thinking we had gotten 800,000 in 2007 is why I asked.

You've got that mixed up with what UM would have paid App this go around if the program were still FCS. It got bumped up to $1mil since App is now FBS.

We play the "BIG BOYS" for two reasons......
#1 - $1,000,000
#2 - So the kids can play against the "BIG BOYS"...it's an expierence of a lifetime to play in front of 70,000+ people against a SEC, BIG TEN, ACC teams. Most of the time, their talent is out the roof and they are ranked in the top #25.

Seriously, that's a massively weak argument. It's not hard to recognize that much of the damage is coming after the game is all but over. We are great at moving the ball against soft prevent style defenses and second and third string players. But against the 1's early in the games, we are almost always stuck in neutral at best, sometimes in reverse.
And there is good reason that we keep making every FBS team we face look their absolute best each time out. We are putting out FCS talent out there. Why people cannot get it through their thick heads that the talent gap has made it nigh on impossible to expect more than what we are seeing is laughable. Effort only makes up for so much, at some point you have to actually be bigger and faster and stronger in order to win at this level.
I am okay with doing that this year as well. I see zero reason to waste a year of eligibility and possible injury to our 2014 FBS recruits on a season with zero meaningful implications. Maybe we will win a couple more games this year, but I doubt much more. I would also not be surprised if we've already seen all the winning football for the year we are going to get. I also don't much care what happens this year, and neither should you if you are thinking long term. It's this upcoming offseason, and next season, that I expect to see what the real future of this program is going to look like. If that turns out to be a disaster, then it's time to start being concerned.

I did say "our offense isn't the wasteland" - I DIDNOT SAY, "our offense is good"

So we actually received 20% more by being FBS when the game was played since you said we would have been paid $800K just prior to moving up a subdivision.
