Tommy's Winston-Salem Journal article on the game yesterday appeared in today's C. Observer.

Great! Sounds syndicated, more or less.

The Greensboro News and Record does the same and give the byline to Tommy and the WSJ. Better than nothing and Tommy is the expert on App sports of the major papers. I would prefer to see N&R have a live reporter but that is not part of their coverage market I realize.

I will state that they are doing a much better job of covering A&T since that is a home town team. Of course the ACC teams get most of the coverage as expected.

Does this sharing of Tommy's articles send money back to the WSJ or is this normal AP news sharing?

The Winston-Salem and Greensboro newspapers are now owned by the same company, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. Hence the sharing of Bowman's stories. The other big newspapers around the state have a loose agreement to share content. Greensboro almost exclusively uses Charlotte's stories on the Panthers and Raleigh's stories on the UNC academic scandal. It's not a particularly good trend in journalism because fewer reporters are digging for news. But it seems to be the direction we're headed.

Glad for the space in the N&O but wonder how much of that is due to Carolina and Duke playing on Thursday and them needing filler.

The Panthers aren't playing today, either, so that probably means even more space to fill. Glad it worked out that way, any coverage we get in a win is a good thing.

I forgot that BerkHath owned both papers now.

A few years ago when the newspaper business was really down in ad content I was wondering if the WSJ and N&R would not merge the national and state news sections and have a local insert for each county.

Essentially one paper for the Triad (leaving High Point and Burlington out of the mix).

All the major papers work together now and cover what is close to home. CO provides the other papers with NASCAR, Panthers and Hornets stuff, the WSJ provides App, Wake, the N&O provides Canes, NCSU and so on.

That's why the CO doesn't have an App beat, they use Bowman's stuff.
