700 Club (S&C Donations)

No this is not a thread about a TV show hosted by Pat Robertson, nor is it about an exclusive group of home run hitters.

The Appalachian State 700 Club is for those proud Mountaineer fans that want to show their APPreciation by stepping up to support our athletes after a great run to finish the 2014 season. The original idea of doing something $mall, that could yield big results, came about after reading an article (Scout), featuring Coach Iron Mike, mentioning he would like tendo units and the APP STATE PROUD thread (WXAPP) here on the MMB. Thanks to our main man Moose for reaching out and getting the info below.

Per Coach Iron Mike, he can purchase tendo units for around $1,500 per device. He requested 7 units would be needed to satisfy his system of training. That gives us a goal of $10,500 to reach. With the guys getting prepared for the 2015 season, I thought a $15 donation would be fitting and affordable for our fans here at holiday time. Dividing the goal of $10,500 by $15 brings about the 700 club. For those needing that extra end of year tax write-off, please feel free to increase your donation.

Coach also mentioned to Moose that if we were unable to fully fund the tendo unit project, he could use 14 trap bars to outfit the entire weight room for a cost of $5,200. I'd say if we are able to exceed the $10,500 tendo project, the additional funds would be used towards the trap bars and a total of $16,000 would fully fund both requests made by Coach Iron Mike. This equipment can assist the S&C program in helping our student athletes reach their peak performance and put our Mountaineers on a course to be Sun Belt Champions next season.

To get an idea on the type of equipment Coach Iron Mike is wanting:

Here is your chance to step up! We need 700 posters/fans to make a tax deductible donation of at least $15 to make the tendo project happen. Please spread the word and feel free to donate more and help us to fulfill Coach Iron Mike's entire wishlist!

'Tis the season for giving!!!

Moose pulled some strings and got this all set up with the folks on campus. As mentioned, these donations will be tax deductible and you should be receiving a receipt. Please make your checks payable to the ASU Foundation (include fund#92809 in the memo ) or jump online to make your tax deductible donation at https://secure.www.alumniconnections.co ... _id=164841 . Once there, the donors should select Athletics/Yosef Club in the top drop down box. Then, select Strength and Conditioning in the second box.

**The branding of this idea took place after someone  tampered with the seal on my mason jar so it won't hurt my feelings if you all want to change the "700 Club" name...it sounded good at the time. The other name I came up with was the Elevation Club and have everyone donate $33.33 which would only require 315 donors to reach the original $10,500 goal.**

Don't have much but I did have a paid off card until now. Also helps that I don't have many presents to buy anymore. Not exactly a perk of getting older but that's life I guess. $75.00 in the fund.

And for those who don't feel comfortable posting what they give just shoot shine a PM if you want. I'll be checking back with the Dept from time to time to see how things are going anyway. Here's to a successful campaign!!!

Maybe we could get a little funding thermometer on the MMB, to show status. It might help drive traffic for those who didn't catch the original post.

Can we make this thread a sticky so it stays at the top of the forum until we have reached our goal?

This is probably more my camp than 89's. I know we can get one on the main page of the cabin. I'll look into something for the board though. Can someone pm me the latest total collected?

Added a thermometer on the main page. When someone clicks on it it will bring them to this thread for more information.

I'll see if we can't get something similar set up for the side of the forum.

This is far and away the coolest thing I've seen on MMB.

If you've donated (no matter the amount), please post it in the thread or shoot me a PM. I've only received 11 total donations so far (on 300+ views) between posts and PM's.

Do we need to include the fund ID if donating online or is that just for checks? I just donated but didn't include that #

Appvette, if you donate online, you just select Athletics/Yosef Club in the first drop down and select Strength and Conditioning in the 2nd drop down. That should suffice and get the funds to the correct program. Include the fund# in the memo if you are sending a check.
