We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.
Kicker is Good!
Kicker is Good!
Watch some of practice this morning. Kicker was nailing field goals from 50 yards out with plenty to spare. Looked impressive. Also OL is much bigger than I can remember in the past. Very upbeat practice!
Re: Kicker is Good!
that's great, and a relief to hear. If we want to get to a bowl this year, our special teams must play better, and it starts with the field goal kicker, if he can come in and solidify the position where it becomes a positive instead of a negative, than I think we are that much closer to a bowl game.

I have a feeling Critcher will punt, one of Matics and Rubino will do kickoffs and the other will do field goals. A lot better than Bentlee doing all three.

I hope that if Matics wins the field goal job that they put a redshirt on Rubino.

Heck no! If Rubino is the real deal, why the heck would we redshirt him? if it had been last year, ok, since we were not bowl eligible, but I don't see the point of red shirting him now. Let's face it, Matics had a rough year last year and cost us some games. I like the idea if Critcher punting, Matics kicking off and Rubino kicking the XP's and FG.s
Re: Kicker is Good!
honestly, I could care less which one wins the battle, as long as that player gets the job done, we are going to have alot of close games this year, pretty good chance 2 or 3 games will be decided by our field goal kicker. Whoever it is, he had better be able to handle the pressure, and get the job done.

You clearly didn't read what I said. IF Matics wins the field goal job we should redshirt Rubino. If Rubino is better than we should clearly play him.

IF it was Rubino killing it from 50 in....you dont keep him on the bench. Kickers dont need a year of seasoning if they are hitting 50 yeard FG's.

Quote from Satterfield in yesterday's Winston-Salem Journal:
"Right now, we're looking at all three kickers," Satterfield said. "I think all three of them will have a role in some aspect of our kicking game."

Sure would have been nice if Rubino were available at the Southern Miss game last year, for example.Rekdiver wrote:IF it was Rubino killing it from 50 in....you dont keep him on the bench. Kickers dont need a year of seasoning if they are hitting 50 yeard FG's.

Re: Kicker is Good!
Matics was doing a very good job on kickoffs at the end of last season. I'd say PK is up for grabs, but if Matics wins that role, I can't see any reason to play Rubino in a role where Matics already excelled.
And on a different matter, I consider the Apex HS logo a sign of respect. You know you're doing something right when high schools start stealing your logo!
