Holy Toledo

Unread post by /\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 » Wed Nov 04, 2015 8:48 am

With the Toledo loss, the GoDaddy Bowl is becoming less appealing to me. It would have been great if Toledo could win out, but as it stands they now need some help to even win their division. Plus in my opinion, they were exposed last night, which makes the rest of their schedule tough. Central Michigan (4-1 in th MAC), Bowling Green (4-0 in the MAC), and Western Michigan (4-0 in the MAC).

Your thoughts? Still prefer this match up?

Still would rather play a one loss MAC than a middle of the pack USA. I know location and time don't suit many but if we can finish this season strong we deserve the best possible opponent. Now if we end up dropping a couple then by all means Orlando.

Cur Bowl would be mid-pack AAC not C-USA. It's going to be interesting but this loss by Toledo definitely slides the bar towards Cure Bowl one notch for me.

Long way to go for this to happen, but a 12-1 Toledo would still be a top 25 opponent. Either Toledo or Bowling Green at 11-2 might be top 25, and in any case would be probably the strongest opponent of any of the four SBC bowls. Even a 10-3 Northern Illinois would be pretty strong, given how good that program has been for years (and remember they took Ohio State to the wire earlier this year).

Not saying I prefer GoDaddy, but if we're looking strictly at strength of opponent, it's still as good as, or better than, any other option.

Not to derail this thread with another attendance discussion but I was impressed with Toledo's attendance on TV last night for a Tuesday night game. 23k and some change. Maybe good camera work, but still for a Tuesday night, ain't even mad at it.

When you've got a decent local population base, weeknight games on national TV aren't a bad thing at all.

Support locally For UToledo is strong, for sure. The campus is just minutes off of I-475 and is easy to travel to.
