At Samford, Jackson faces a Bulldogs secondary that is physical and not afraid to take chances. The Bulldogs have grabbed a Southern Conference leading 11 interceptions in just six games.
They are also second in pass defense, giving up just 166.8 yards per game. That’s in contrast to Appalachian State’s passing game, which is second in the SoCon at 263.5 yards per game.

their defensive numbers are alittle misleading, they have not played a team that can throw the ball like us, and, other than GS, (a team that beat them 35-16), their schedule has been pretty soft.

Well, they did spank a team called The Citadel, remember them? This will be a very tough test no doubt. This is the weekend we find out who we are.moehler wrote:their defensive numbers are alittle misleading, they have not played a team that can throw the ball like us, and, other than GS, (a team that beat them 35-16), their schedule has been pretty soft.

I wouldn't talk up Cit, after us they have been awful, starting to think that was just a game where all the stars lined up for that game. Got a feeling if we played them now, we would crush them. Still think this game is going to be a shootout, both teams in the 30's.

I tend to agree. The Citadel was looking like a legit contender after beating GSU and App in consecutive weeks, but they've imploded since then. I'm not sure if they've had injuries, or if they just couldn't sustain the emotional high they were on. The day they pounded App was a day when The Citadel was highly motivated, executing flawlessly and App (for whatever reason) came out completely flat.moehler wrote:I wouldn't talk up Cit, after us they have been awful, starting to think that was just a game where all the stars lined up for that game. Our offense has taken big steps since then. I have no doubt that the D has watched that game repeatedly and I seriously doubt we see the same results when we face a triple option again. The Citadel QB is a better thrower than either Wofford or GSU, which makes him harder for our D. I'm not discounting anything. We have some tough games ahead...including Samford, but I believe this App team is capable of beating anyone in the SoCon (and beyond) IF we play our A game.
