Biggest Home game in App History
I can't think of a more important home game in our history. Am I blowing this game out of proportion?
A ranked ACC team with Miami's history coming to the Rock for the world to watch on ESPN?! Are you kidding me? I never dreamed this could've happened so fast!
Give 'em hell boys! This is YOUR opportunity to make history. People will talk about this game for years!

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
It is the biggest game for a lot of reasons. A five time national championship team coming to Boone. National exposure on ESPN. Plus, we need to beat a power five team to legitimize our team. Win this game and it will help with recruiting as we will have a lot of recruits at this game. I'm stoked!

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
With the exception of the semi-finals matchup between us and Furman back in December '05, this is going to be the biggest game that's ever taken place in Boone. My only concern are fans and students leaving by halftime no matter what the score is

For an old alum this is a dream come true and I didn't know that I would see this great a match-up in Boone in my lifetime.

App vs Furman in 2005 was pretty big. This is biggest opponent though.

This game offers the biggest opportunity ever. If we win, the ramification is tremendous. I'm stoked because what is on the line is everything! It is up to us to all play our parts, no second chances. I KNOW WE ARE UP FOR IT. Go Apps!

5 time BCS champion vs 3 time NCAA champion. Call me picky but jiminy crickets! Our boys aren't chopped liver and deserve to be on the field as much as the 'Canes. I say it's just as big of a game for them as it is for us.B30020 wrote:It is the biggest game for a lot of reasons. A five time national championship team coming to Boone. National exposure on ESPN. We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Yes, yes and yes - we were lucky to have a ranked FCS team show up in the 1990s and 2000s. I still have awful memories of losing to a winless VMI squad at home in 1990 which kept us from making the playoffs. Not only is this big, it will be historic when we win.

Biggest game in App history at home. What's cool about this, my wife is from Florida and is a Canes fan. She had a shirt made that I can't see until Saturday morning. I'm pretty sure it's 1/2 App and 1/2 Miami. She has her "U" tat on her leg, I got my Block "A" on my arm. Gonna be a house divided and fun on Saturday at HIGH NOON!!! Never in my life would I think The "U" would come to Boone. Go Apps!!!!

I have a similar situation. I graduated from App, then went to Miami for grad school. My wife loves it there and was going to wear a Miami shirt. I told she wasn't allowed. She has to wear an App shirt and pull for App. We settled for an App shirt and Miami ear rings.AppState89 wrote:Biggest game in App history at home. I concur.... We're trying to right this ship after taking repeated shots from other pirates for the better part of a decade. Miami wins (which is expected) and we're "supposed to win", but gives us an early and impressive win on the road against a giant killer who with any kind of break, just pumped Rocky Top on their own Checkerboard....scatman77 wrote:5 time BCS champion vs 3 time NCAA champion. App State wins and it'll send recruiting through the roof!!!! The staff can go into Dade County and say "come play in NC... and beat teams like Miami (that didn't think you were good enough to recruit) every year....
This game is enormous for each squad, for countless different reasons....
It's gonna be a great trip in from Wisconsin that's for sure!!!!

Given the platform we are platying on, I would argue this is perhaps the biggest game in program history.

Actually after we win I hope we don't do things like that. I hope that we act like we should have won. It is time we not act like the little brother. We have arrived. We have proven we can play with anyone. We may not always win but we can play with the big boys. After all a win would be great but not a shock. WE BELONG on the field with them. Our field, our house, we EXPECT to win in our house. It should be NO SURPRISE.

Re: Biggest Home game in App History
I tend to agree with bcoach's philosophy, but I think any post-game celebration should be organic in nature. If we were to win on, say, a Miracle on the Mountain moment, then by all means do the Duck Pond Dunk. But sitting around on Tuesday wondering what we "might" do just seems like putting the cart before the horse.
