Anyone have any guesses at a lineup?
Or Staff?

I'll go
Friday- Tanner Nolan
Saturday- Caleb Marks
Sunday- Gage Peterson

No clue about order but assuming these guys will be in it.

Evans- CF
Zamora- 2b
Soul- DH
Miller- 1B/DH
Luft- LF
Xuereb- 3B
Wright/Denton- C
Seaward- 1B/DH
Mammau- SS

With Moquin Dupont Yaya battling for at bats in the OF.
Smith and Puig battling for infield ABs.

We might be stacked at the plate. Power might be down but seems like we have a ton of pure hitters. Any of the 5-6 OF's can start.

Evans batted .179 last season in 78 at bats, although he played well defensively. I’m curious why you think he will be in the starting lineup?

It's hard to say with so many new faces. I think we'll be fine at the plate and in the field. Hopefully pitching will improve with new leadership there.

Any of the 5 OFs can start it sounds like. It could be DuPoint starting. But you can probably count on Soul and Luft being out there.
Was mostly picking Charlie because of his defense in CF and is a known name. He also broke a couple of fingers early on last year and was never the same after. Had 3 fingers taped together all year. He crushed while at Winthrop, even against us when we played them. Hope he’s healthy and gets back to that.

He hit 2 homers this past weekend and played well in the fall.

Some of you cats probably lived in Soul-Train when you were students. It was the dorm right beside Gardner and behind Justice.

My dorm 70-71. The moment that stands out most for me that year in Coltrane was when I was feeding my roommate's parakeet, and the bird flew right out of the cage and right out of our 5th floor window. Needless to say that bird was never seen again. He was home for the weekend and I had to wait until he returned to tell him his birthday gift for his girlfriend had flown the coop.

Not to mention he may be the best pound for pound athlete we’ve had on campus in a while.

Well I don't care if it's 40 degrees. I'm heading to Hickory in 2 weeks. I need something that reminds me of Spring. Tired of this snow and cold. Bring on the warm weather!

Anyone have the backstory how we ended up practicing at Richmond Hill High School south of Savannah for 4 days this past week?
Guess we had to go that far south to get away from the storms.

Didn't they do it last year as well? I thought it was part of their "spring training". Getting off the mountain and trying to get as many field reps as possible.

Makes sense- need the outdoor practice. Didn't know we went this far away to practice for a few days though.

I hope we aren't spending our budget on 4 nights in Richmond Hill as opposed to playing a 3 game set in Fayetteville Arkansas.
Can't complain about budget issues anymore as a reason of not playing the big boys.

Agreed - but looking at the OOC schedule and what sounds like is at stake for the coaching staff - plus an influx of new players, looks like they are trying to ease into this season. I would suspect a winning OOC record and I think the powers to be would be happy if the team achieved a .500 record in conference. That being said I wouldn't put too much stock into the first series win or lose.

Bingo. I think Kermit has 2 years left on his contract? Makes all the sense in the world to me to go get as many OOC wins as possible (especially with our gauntlet of an in-conference schedule) and earn an extension this year instead of having that "contract year" pressure on your shoulders next year. I'd rather go win 35 games while beating Canisius and Presbyterian than win 25 while losing to Arkansas and UNC. Just my opinion. Go earn a 3-4 year extension this year and I think the staff will feel more free to open up the OOC schedule a little bit.

An extension will be a hard sell short of an NCAA at large birth. Multiple sources.
