Season Opener

Unread post by epiphone_74 » Thu Feb 16, 2017 8:10 am

Hey all,

Time is drawing near for the Diamond Apps to take to the field and show us what they are made of down in Wilmington. How many of us are making the trip?

I know that the eastern NC contingent of the diamond apps will be strong supporting the team this weekend. Hope we can pack the house with assistance from the west.

Roll Call !!!

I'm planning on being at the Sunday game against UNCW. Looking forward to the season with much anticipation regarding our coaching hire.

Does anyone know if there will be an audio broadcast of some sort?

I doubt it. At least not from ASN. Baseball is usually neglected until basketball season is over. Then broadcasts usually only occur during home games.

This time of year it is live stats and the hope the opposing team has audio available.

Yeah, it's looking like live stats will be the only way to keep up with first 3 games this weekend (sans those who attend). Looks like the Sunday game against UNCW may be streamed live. Not sure if that's a paid subscription for UNCW fans or if it will be available for free. Here's to hoping it's free since I can't make the trip this weekend. Go Apps!

It seems like Jones' teams gave up more five-spots than any other college team. Now Kermit's team has put one up in his second inning as head coach, and with two outs to boot.

8-5 Keydets with one out in the bottom of the 6th and a pitching change (the 2nd one this inning) for the Apps.

Hate to say it but not a very good start. VMI is not a strong baseball club. I think anyone who expects us to be competitive in the Sun Belt this year is expecting too much. I believe Coach Smith will establish the right culture and get this team headed in the right direction but it won't happen over night.

Some of the same player issues as last year, I guess bad habits are hard to break.
