Seen box scores like this way too often these last few years.

At one point last year we ranked dead last in the NCAA in team batting average. That has to improve.

I think we’re predicted to finish last in SB. We’re playing a “middle of the conference” SEC team at their place... “Hold the phone”!!

I'd like to think we're at least a little better than what is predicted, here's hoping for some improvement this season over last.

Just a reminder that last year's team was a major re-build with something like 18 new faces on the team. The SEC is consistently at the top of the NCAA baseball rankings with several teams ranked in the top 25 (Currently 5 teams in the top 10: Vanderbilt, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss....and three more in the top 25: Miss St., Arkansas and Auburn). Being "middle of the road SEC" is hardly an insult from the Sunbelt perspective. The Belt has very good baseball but it's not SEC good. CCU is the only currently ranked Belt team coming in at 21.
Coach Smith was on the BGP this past week so folks need to listen if you haven't. We have more guys coming in who can hit left handed which he said was a weakness last year. App is still extremely young, so let's not start drawing conclusions after one game. Kermit Smith has a history of building winners but we will most likely have to settle for progress this year. I don't think we will be last in the conference.

I've always gone by that old Earl Weaver theory that said unless you have three hitters who can bust a fence down you're going nowhere. If we don't swing the bats it's going to be another low level finish.

Can't win many games with a continual "goose egg" under your name.

We did double our seasonal hit total, however.

It would have been nice to open up against an easier opponent rather than against an SEC team. On to NCCU. We'll get things on track.
