I try not to get excited about mid-week games either way.In my mind it's for developmental purposes.Win the week ends!
Last night was intended to get some bullpen guys some work. They weren’t used much this past weekend.

GS Game 1. We had a big chance there in the top of the 7th to get a run or two across the plate. Opportunity missed.

Not a good weekend. Game 2 was bad. At least we came back and took one in the series.

There were some good takeaways from the series. But we need to eliminate the self inflicted wounds and get better at situational hitting.

Game one was ours for the taking. Yes. Self inflicted.

Is it less talented/inexperienced mid week pitching or are those teams just that much better? We keep getting rocked by power 5 opponents.

Just a theory with no basis of fact or numbers to back it up but I think less young people are playing baseball these days so there is significantly less talent to go around. A player with a certain level of talent may be more likely to choose a school with more of a winning tradition. Also, many more young and athletic guys are playing soccer. Having said all this, we have / had several players on MLB rosters and have had great seasons in the past so it can be done here.

You may be right, there's certainly more spring sports out there (Lacrosse, soccer etc). Another reason - you can get to the Majors without going to college (MLB Draft out of HS).

I know we have some injuries but it sucks to go from beating Wake Forest last year to the season we are having now.

Yes and we face better pitching which results in less hits. We have struggled against better pitching.
