Can someone list the guys we know for sure won't be back - their actual eligibility level is sometimes confusing - I also looked at the Senior Day picture but I think in the past we have had football players celebrate SR.Day and come back for one more year - Thanks

Need to ink Kermit this week.

Wow, Tulane beat ECU to make it to the NCAA tourney. They are 19-40. Is that the worst record to ever make the NCAA tourney?

My take ....Five games in four days .Beat the Champions , an at large team and JMU -who I hate. And did it with our Ace struggling.Eventually we simply ran out of gas. All in all ,the boys of Summer took a big step forward.Drumheller is an all-timer in my book , all around one of the best to come through Boone.Repacing him ,Terrell and Cross will not be easy. Those guys are vastly under-rated .But you build a roster year by year in these portal days , like every other college team.I hope we hang on to the rest that are eligible but who knows.Maybe Kermit has it figured out after seven years. He should be looking at a three or four year contract extension in my opinion .It has to go through several approvals and I know that some conversations have yet to take place. So recruit , hit the portal , the weight room and build on this , don't let the momentum slip away.

Way to go Boyd and Drum!!
Since it does not appear a catcher was named to team. I will give it to Cross. The number of bad pitches he stabbed out of the dirt had to be double digits...

Any program willing to hire Kermit away after one +.500 season is desperate. I like the guy. I want us to offer him a new deal…because I have to know if this year was a fluke or if it was the beginning of a special run.

From an RPI perspective, which is an objective measure, we finished the ‘22 season at 122 ….. this season we finished at 87…. and two games away from the conference championship. I watched a good part of the USM vs ULL game and they mentioned several times how App St made a big jump this season. Way to finish the season strong and thank you to all the 5-6 yr seniors who came back and advanced this program. A big tip of hat 🎩 to L. Drumheller, H. Cross, A. Terrell,G. Gillespie, E. Ellington, J. Henry, and A. Reed…… they made this finish possible.

I would think programs would be looking at the entire body of his work. I hope we are able to keep him because I think he has built our team up the right way. Especially in this new age of NIL and the Portal, it is a challenge to build culture where none really existed (for baseball). It's easy to reduce it all to wins and losses, but App is playing in a much tougher conference than we ever have before. The SoCon was a pretty good baseball conference and I'm not diminishing the accomplishments of 2013 but winning 30 games against the schedule we played this year is a better overall performance in my opinion. In 2013 we got an auto bid because we didn't have two ranked teams in the conference. This year, we have TWO top 20 teams and we have wins against BOTH. Only the SEC, ACC and Pac10 have more teams in the top 100 than the Belt (as of about a week ago when I counted). Yes, we had a couple of stumbles but we got right back on our feet and improved as the season progressed. It's hard to ask more than that from any coach.

I hope Coach Smith returns to continue building a PROGRAM at App State.

I’m sure DG will do what he can….. just for reference, Socon is 13 in RPI and SB is 5th…

Sun Belt got 4 teams in NCAA tournament. Really good league, better than football. Kermit going to pound the portal!

We were competitive v all 4 of those teams. Coastal, Troy, USM, UL.

No question about it…. only four conferences had all tourney teams in top 100 RPI…. Baseball is the most “national” sport in the SB…. and is only getting more so.

I could see a local private school, who has an AD with ties to App State, being interested.

We went 6-7 against those four and didn't play any of them at home.

8 teams from NC and 3 from SC in the tourney - I think that just says more about what a great job the coaches did with this team

Besides searching all the rosters of the Summer College leagues, is there a way to get a list of where the returning players will be playing this summer? Would like to be able to follow their stats and maybe catch a game somewhere in NC.

Unless App announces it U might have to go on the players twitter page and definitely go to a league and look at rosters.

Best bet look at Valley - Southern and some smaller SBL in NC and SC

Some of the out of staters could be going home and playing there. Most won’t get picked up.

The athletic department typically announces it and sends out updates through the season.

Baseball strength is migrating south east.

9/top 10 and 17/top 20 are in the South East (that includes the states of Texas and Oklahoma thanks to the SEC redrawing the map).

Highest attendance is in the south east.

Doug better realize that baseball is becoming a major priority to fans and prioritize improvement there. Prioritize recruiting budgets. Prioritize player retention. Prioritize coaching salaries.

I’ve been saying it on these threads for years…it’s time for fans to stop making excuses and raise our expectations. If it can happen at Coastal, Campbell, Western Carolina, ETSU, then it can happen at App.

Regional once out of every 3 years. That’s the standard.
