Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
It's the offseason. I saw a video yesterday where some baseball analysts gave their top 10 FICTIONAL baseball player movie characters of all time. Thought it would be cool to see what we could come up with here!!!
My list- Top 10 FICTIONAL Baseball Characters- Movie
1. Roy Hobbs- The Natural
2. Benny the Jet- Sandlot
3. Henry Rowengardner- ROY
4. Wild Thing- Major League
5. Chet Steadman- ROY
6. Pedro Cerrano- Major League
7. Mel Clark- Angels in the Outfield
8. Crash Davis- Bull Durham
9. Willie Mays Hays- Major League
10. Ham Porter- Sandlot
This is pretty tough, baseball movies are by far the best sports movies. I hated leaving Bad News Bears off the list, if only Buttermaker had played in a game!

Buttermaker is the Manager of your team. Didn't have to play a game.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:27 amIt's the offseason. Lou Brown as manager. He’s good with negotiating contracts, and if he fails he can get you a good deal on a set of white walls.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:02 pmButtermaker is the Manager of your team. Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
That is a good list, I would have Crash Davis a lot higher, probably #2 right after Hobbs. I mean, the guy is the all time minor league home run record holder. That alone should make him higher than 8, not to mention his cliche mastery and ability to cause a rain out to bust a losing streak. The more I think about it, he may be the best.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:27 amIt's the offseason. Yep, breaks his arm and comes back throwing harder than Steensma!
I think ASL would be an excellent baseball movie star. He's got the talent, swag, and charisma.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Loved Bad News Bears as a kid. Little League kids top out at 12 so the obviously 17 year old Kelly Leak (rides in on a trail bike then drives the van to Houston) didn’t quite make it realistically but a great movie just the same.
