Makes me think we (APP) should charge for using our Name, Image and Likeness when sending out resume pictures via twitter.

Yes, Apps football TP recruits from GASO are proof-of-concept here.t4pizza wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 2:05 pmWorry not, with modern chemistry there are cleaning compounds strong enough cleanse even that stench off people.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:51 pmOne of them played at Stink...ew.appstate24 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:29 pmFWIW, I just saw on X, Coach Kerns has offered some JUCO kids.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I’m starting think we may possibly be in a “sweet spot”. As long as we are in a top tier G5 all of our games will be televised and we’ll be playing a solid tough schedule.
Some p5 back ups that want to play & be on TV may consider us. Also JUCO & D2 starters will consider us attractive.
Several years ago, Coach K developed the “one & done” recruiting mode to get the best talent. Perhaps in order to get the best talent we’re moving into a “one or two & done” recruiting mode.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I expected some turnover but I’m pretty surprised to see so many in it so quickly.
I think everything still depends on Kerns staying. I think it’s quite possible we see one or more of these guys back on the team next season if he does. In all likelihood moving forward you’re gonna see more and more players test the portal regardless of viable better alternatives just to see what’s out there. I think the perception/expectations of NIL money at some of these programs is a bit off base too.
I really like these guys and hope if Kerns stays we see some of them back next year!

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Who knows, maybe these guys asked Kerns if it is ok to test the portal with the understanding they will return if they don't get a big offer. Sounds weird, but the entire approach to talent retention has been turned upside down and what was normal in the past might not be normal in the future.

I'd say Wake, Arizona State and UAB would be a "step up". Others are lateral moves at best.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:37 pmhttps://x.com/jamieshaw5/status/1772722 ... 3hJ5cku44g

JMU's Edwards is in the portal. He was the best player in our league. He is definitely able to not only play but he can start at a low of power programs.

Honestly, and this will be unpopular, seeing ECU, UNCC, and UAB on there really makes me wish we had gotten into the American.asumba95 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:25 amI'd say Wake, Arizona State and UAB would be a "step up". At least two other JMU players have followed. It's pretty indemic across the conference.

I mean it just says they contacted him, not that he’s interested. I’m pretty sure we don’t want to be members of the MAC or WAC and schools in those conferences contacted him as well.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:32 amHonestly, and this will be unpopular, seeing ECU, UNCC, and UAB on there really makes me wish we had gotten into the American.asumba95 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:25 amI'd say Wake, Arizona State and UAB would be a "step up". It seems to me college basketball has turned into a "pick up" game. We got our 5-8 players let's "run em" and we will re choose next year. I could see the fab four situation start showing up where a group get together and as a group sign NIL deals.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I think a group of star players would be smart to do that so it would guarantee they are going to be on a good team. I'm sure a lot of coaches would love knowing that with one deal they can get 4-5 good players together.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 9:15 amIt seems to me college basketball has turned into a "pick up" game. Could a school recruit some ex NBA/Europe players that never went to college? Some of them might even make more money playing college pro ball.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I thought about this too. A player can come out of the portal and go back to the team he was on. It's happened before.appvette wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 7:50 amWho knows, maybe these guys asked Kerns if it is ok to test the portal with the understanding they will return if they don't get a big offer. Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I agree. However, I do not want coaching staff to wait to see if that happens. I hope Kerns gets the best players he can get... maybe better than what we had ..if spot left when player wants to return. Fine ..if players are having a day in free agency...so should we ..MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 9:40 amI thought about this too.
