Obviously, if we continue to play as we did last night someone new will likely be at the helm next year.JTApps1 wrote:Which is a result of poor recruiting...JCline0429 wrote:Perhaps it is lack of depth being the reason for not substituting more from the bench.Appheel wrote:Gotta say, I don't think this loss is on Capel. The players shot 30% from the field in the first half and only went 9-22 from the charity stripe. 13 missed FT's and lost by 7. Capel isn't to blame for that. Often times late in the game Capel motioned for the team to pressure the ball full court and really only Burgess did until the end of the game. Now, if the players aren't fully listening to Capel then that's a larger issue. But I think just lack of execution was the reason for the loss here.
My concern right now is Capel's lack of using a bench. Played nine guys tonight which is more than the state game, but Neal, Tab and Burgess need more breaks. Canty will help spread that out when he returns. Want to see Ty Toney more. Kobani got good minutes tonight and Rantavious had a 2-3 minute cameo early and that's it.
Tough loss.
The other thing that has hurt us in resent years is the almost reliance on transfers. We are not bring guys in and developing like we have in the past. Carter was good for 1 year, Okam never panned out, we get one solid year of Spagnolo, 2 with Baskin. We need to have more solid 4 year recruits that we can build and not just take what their last coach, did or did not do with them.
