Duquesne Game Thread

Unread post by asumike83 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:09 pm

47-42, early second half.

The Apps have scored 9 straight after a very uninspired first half. Quite frustrating to see the team come out with such energy at ECU and VT then play so flat at home against a team that we should be able to handle.

Hopefully we can continue to play well in the second half. No excuses, we have to win this one.

58-57 Duquesne, just under 9:00 to play. App took a brief lead before the timeout and are playing much better since the break.

Now comes the tough part: we've got to finish.

DAMN! I just went to the live feed and thought the game was over. I'm serious! There were people milling around the court and nobody in the stands. Turns out it was just a time out. This is a SAD state the basketball program is in.

Wow. Great pass by Healy to Obacha for an easy 2, Duquese comes right back and drains a 3.

After a missed shot, App fouls and the Dukes knock down both.

73-70 Duquesne, Apps with the ball after the timeout. 14 seconds to play.

73-72 Duquesne. Final.

A real heartbreaker after coming all the way back. This team just cannot put it together for 40 minutes. We needed this one.

Terrible first half too tough to overcome...

Healy played out of his mind. Okam finally woke up. Slow start and poor clock management cost us this one. We're definitely improving... so, hopefully that continues heading into SoCon play.

If the ASU team that showed up in the second half would show up consistently, this would be a fun team to watch and they would win at least half of their games. In the second half, they took good shots and made them, they played defense, they actually got a few rebounds, they hustled -- they looked nothing at all like the team that stumbled through the first half. There is some pretty decent talent on this team, but they need good coaching and they need to be consistent. I'm not making any predictions that we will actually see either of these things, but I haven't given up yet.
