Seems ASU just isn't much of a basketball school. Despite the success of the women's program, they are near the bottom in the SoCon attendance figures.
Appalachian State 3-662 221
Chattanooga 5-15313 3063
Col. of Charleston 2-519 260
Davidson 2-372 186
Elon 5-2123 425
Furman 4-1746 436
Georgia Southern 2-1407 704
Samford 5-2229 446
UNCG 6-1464 244
Western Carolina 6-2681 447
Wofford 2-353 176
Totals 42-28869 687

We need more double headers.

HA. That would require people to show up for the mens game and then not be bored out of there minds enough to leave before the womens game. Either way, outside UT, UCONN, Stanford, Baylor and Notre Dame, as good as our women are, the country as a whole does not care about womens hoops.
Want some evidence to that - todays game between #1 Stanford and #2 UCONN has gotten 1 promo mention during a timeout of this Armed Forces Bowl and the game itself is on ESPNU. It couldn't even unseat the New Era Pinstripe Bowl or the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl from the main ESPN or ESPN2.

Maybe so, however, we draw less for our women's games than most everyone else in the SoCon. You can't say its the product on the court.

Our women deserve far better support! Darcie is growing tired of this. The only way we can hope to keep her is through salary and benefits increases and justify it through Title IX.
She loses her three toughest players to graduation this year--AFreeman, CFreeman and KSharkey. Might be an appropriate lime for her to check the NCAA vacancy posts. If and when she leaves, we'll be starting over with a new staff. Darcie will take all of her coaches with her wherever she goes.
For us, that'd be a big ouch!

In a way it is the product on the floor. It just has nothing to do with success and thats a shame. I support the women more than most. Even was at their exhibition games and SoCon Tourney games. But it IS the product of womens basketball. No one cares about it. When you mix it with the lack of parking, winter weather and all these other aforementioned issues with mens hoops attendance, no one shows up.

Marketing. There is none.
A little off topic, but how/why is Darcie still here? She should have been hired away by a bigger program a long time ago.

She was one of two finalists for the Wake Forest HC position last spring. A Wake grad was hired. It has been said she'd stay for a shot at a C-USA title or maybe Sunbelt.
I fear our bottom line with Darcy is the graduation of her three franchise seniors. Three of the best to ever wear our Black and Gold...Anna Freeman, Courtney Freeman and Kelsey Sharkey.
