Maybe, but I think I remember reading about Rufus on the original board.

Lehman Brothers and Bear Sterns were still in business.
And as bad as the SEC was then, they never would've allowed the investment banks to create make believe securities like mortgage-backed derivatives and credit default swaps that would end up wrecking the economy.

The hypocrisy in the "you just couldn't help yourself" is funny.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 11:59 amNot offended, just sick of people who can't separate anything in their lives from politics or "culture war" BS for five seconds. This message board specifically says "No politics" at the top of the page, but you just couldn't help yourself.CoachRob wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 7:56 amWell this started to get personal really quickly ...MrCraig wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 9:25 pmMan. We had almost 24 whole hours to just bask in a great win, and you ding dongs had to come in and start spewing stupid “culture war” bull crap.CoachRob wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 9:17 pmHow about before the socialist version of cancel culture? ... that fits a little bit better.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 3:16 pm
But it had.
Smothers Brothers were taken off the air over comments about the Vietnam War.
Pete Seeger and many others were cancelled right out of employment by HUAC.
IWW members and socialists were cancelled from speaking engagements during WWI. Eugene V Debs spent some time in prison and ran for president while in prison for a speech he gave.
THAT is cancel culture and it has been around for decades.
How bout, “2000 was the last time CoachRob or asumba95 read a book”?
I would respond, "2000 was the last time Mr Craig was offended", but we all know that can't be true.
Might want to jump on the person who responded 1st for making it political. That's when it crossed the line. Maybe you shouldn't respond if you don't want it to get political.

I was fortunate to have known Tyson, McMahon, and Seneca. Great dudes. The death of Rufus Leach hit hard. He was an up and coming star. Remember Stuart Scott doing a Eminem lyric on a highlight of their conference playoff game. Watched the NCAA game at an overcrowded bar in Savannah during Saint Patty’s Day. Lucky to make it out alive and fortunately befriended two marines that saved me from getting my ass kicked.

Similarly Enron and WorldCom were still in business, as was Arthur Andersen. "SOX" (Sarbanes-Oxley) was not yet a thing!Bootsy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:22 pmLehman Brothers and Bear Sterns were still in business.

Under appreciated joke in “Almost Famous” is Jimmy Fallon as the scab tour manager who says “if you think The Rolling Stones are going to be touring until they’re 50 you’re sorely mistaken”.

... I had just started dating this girl I really liked but was in a bit of hot water because I postponed our third date to go to the SoCon finals with some buddies.
She must have forgiven me. We celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary later this year.

Re: The last time App went to the tournament ______
Some movie geek stuff:
Kevin Feige was a young coffee runner sent over to FOX studios by Marvel Comics to keep an eye on the studio's new X-Men project. No one at Marvel, FOX, or Sony was listening to him shout about how all the Marvel property films should be set in a shared universe.
Comic book superhero movies hadn't become the dominate force at the box office yet. That really began with X-Men which would be released later that summer, and first Spiderman two years later.
There were only 3 Harry Potter books in stores and no movies released.
We were still hoping new Star Wars movies would not be aweful, despite the recent disaster that was The Phantom Menace. Little did we know there would be 7 more SW movies in the future and they would all be, for the most part, bad.
And finally, the release of the first part of greatest achievement in filmmaking, The Lord of the Rings, was still a year and a half away.

The Marvel Universe stuff is totally awesome but I beg to differ on the "7 more SW movies in the future and they would all be, for the most part, bad." In my opinion 3 of the 7 were bad (chapters 1-3), 1 was just OK (Solo), and the other 4 (chapters 7-9 & Rogue One) were actually pretty good. I love the new characters of Finn, Rey, and BB8 in chapters 7 - 8.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 1:11 pmSome movie geek stuff:

Eric Church was at App, but still a UNC fan.
Furman still sucked.
There were still students on campus that had attended Thawout.
Uli Frohlich was still teaching German.
Geno’s was the best place in town to watch a game.

Bobby Cremins still had blond hair,we would watch him as much as the players,he was animatedappfanjj wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 10:41 amI am going to date myself here. My 4 years at App were also Bobby Cremins first four years as our coach. Over those 4 years I watched our team go from abysmal to an NCAA tournament. Basketball was amazing and Varsity Gym was consistently packed to 7,500 capacity. When the big rivals like ETSU, Furman, Davidson, or Western came to town it was huge. I think we are on the verge of getting back to that level. Congrats and THANK YOU to all of our players, Coach Kerns, our AD, and all support staff for an amazing tournament run. Future looks bright. Take the stairs and let's continue the madness in Indiana.
Just for fun go to YouTube and find an App State vs ETSU game played in Boone. Enjoy!

Thawout...the best thing the Sig Eps ever did. That and winning the 1991 intramurals championship.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:08 amEric Church was at App, but still a UNC fan.

I think Rogue One was the best of all the Star Wars. Had a good ending. Then again I am more of a Star Trek person.Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:14 amThe Marvel Universe stuff is totally awesome but I beg to differ on the "7 more SW movies in the future and they would all be, for the most part, bad."
