Not all situations are automatically bad, or concerning. Sometimes, addition by subtraction is the outcome.

Without knowing how next years team will gel, I could see Boykin being really productive as a lead guard. Littleton looks to have loads of potential as well. Those guys along with Gregory, Huntley, and Pearson, who appears to be a better post option than we’ve had in a while, makes me feel optimistic. Walker could be a stud too if injury free. The big question mark for me is who will fill Delph’s void. Boykin can shoot, but we need another athletic wing who can shoot and penetrate I think. Eads can shoot, Brown is a slasher, Mantis can shoot, but none of them appear to do both. I haven’t seen enough of Harcum to know his strengths. Maybe the staff can steal one more guy from the portal to contribute right away. There’s one more scholarship spot available.

...been away for the better part of the week and just logged in to get caught up on App sports when what to my wondering eyes did I find but two large images of #24 from Charleston Southern...who is apparently Charlotte native A. J. Hamrick...a 6-9 190 rising soph who played a total 54 minutes in 8 total games for a team that just finished a 6-25 (.194) season. The post is missing any explanatory text. (I no speak Instagram!)

In checking out the Appstatemania pay site, appstatesports.com, verbalcommits.com and the WATAUGA DEMOCRAT I'm still in the dark. No help there. Have I landed in some alternate universe in which Hamrick is inheriting the roster slot just vacated by AD? Just wondering?

The image is RJ Duhart. He’s headed to CS.

Geez, that's embarrassing. I didn't recognize RJ in that jersey. I'm really sorry to see him go, but relieved that we aren't picking up the 2022 #24 from CSU? The sound you just heard was my loooong sigh of relief. At least RJ'll be closer to home and he should get all the PT he wants there. I wish him nothing but the best.

Don’t sleep on Harcum.

I’m sure the potential is there. His high school highlights actually reminded me of Delph a little.

Has it been confirmed that we will still have Donovan Gregory? If he is back with the transfers and recruits, I feel a whole lot better.

12.9 ppg last year for Norfolk St. we might recognize his big time performance in the 2021 NCAA tournament

This fellow can absolutely help us at PG. He can run, pass and distribute the ball in traffic. We have firsthand knowledge of his shooting ability. I dunno how much he'd like to play his last season in the bedroom 'burbs of NYC with the Iona Gaels. Next Friday, 6.3.22, should be an interesting day.

Clearly, Coach Kerns wants to spend that last scholarship on an impact player! I'd hazard a guess that he has a Plan B if Hawkins opts out. Of course, that Plan B might be to file it away until the November 10-17 signing period.

He's from NYC, so it might be a closer to home move.

A little off topic, but word is tricking out that with 14 teams, the basketball schedule will be heavily divisional; playing the other 6 division teams home and away, then playing 6 of the other 7 from the other division for an 18-game schedule.

Roster should be set with the addition of Carvell Teasett

looks to be a shooter! Nine games last year he attempted 9 or more 3's in a game. Also thanks to Covid years he has 2 years of experience with 3 remaining years or eligibility

Quality pick up, we have tons of competition in the backcourt

My initial concern on paper with Teasett is he started last season academically ineligible. Now, he obviously figured it out and got him self back to eligible, but that is a concern for sure.

I just hope Kerns isn't going the Capel approach and choosing talent 100% over academics. That's not the App way. And that's already bit us in the ass with this program once fairly recently.

That said, I'll trust Kerns and staff. DG doesn't typically allow academic exceptions so I'm optimistic.

I know we passed on some guys with classroom and other off the court issues this cycle. While there are no guarantees , I would think we are satisfied with his academic progress.
