Re: ULM
I think it's about $2m for the conference per unit (each game played, spread over 6 years). So not a ton, but I wouldn't turn down $160k for App. Or 2-3x that if they win a game or two.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 4:05 pmJust for the sake of argument under that scenario how much money would we get? I know winning tournament games equals units and future dollars but would we get enough to really be significant?bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 11:50 amI would want them to go undefeated, beat us 3 times and win a NC every year if we got " more money".appvette wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 2:04 amJMU making the tournament in that scenario would directly lead to more money for App. Why would you not want that?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 9:59 pmJMU will not run the table. 2 losses .. potentially 3 losses to App. St. if we play them in tourney. Moot point.
I hope it plays out like this and they do not get into March Madness....maybe that leads to another threatened lawsuit by Attorney General...

Re: ULM
He's taken 11 shots that were not three pointers this season And, he hasn't been "on" since the UNC Wilmington game. You would think an occasional lay-up or mid-range jumper might help the confidence, but he's basically parked in the corner when he's on the court.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:15 amI was discussing his woes with the guy next to me yesterday. When he is on he is lights out. But when he is off, his misses are horrible. You have to wonder if he starts thinking too much.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:01 amHaving watched several of our games I have to ask, do we absolutely need to Jack this many 3's? We have size and athletic players who should be able to score in the paint. I know it's all about analytics but we seem to not really be that good from distance. Hate to harp on one particular player again but dang what's his problem? Speaking about the one who only fires up shots behind the arc.

38.3% of our shots this season are three's and we are shooting 30.2% from three.hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:49 pmOver the last several games we are shooting less than 20% from three.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:01 amHaving watched several of our games I have to ask, do we absolutely need to Jack this many 3's? The last 4 games (we are 3-1), we have made 22 of 98 attempts, which is 22.4%. But, we're consistent in our offense as 38.8% of our shots are from three in those games.
Looks like we are going to hoist 4 of every 10 shots from behind the arc.
We are averaging 15.75 assists for those 4 games (and 15.9 assists for the season), so we are getting an assist on about half of our made shots in that stretch. Maybe, ball movement is the key with this team (and something I think Marsh could have helped us with in the second half yesterday)

I’m thinking we file this proclivity for poor perimeter shooting under the category of “just because you can…doesn’t mean you should.”Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:27 amIf Mantis is hitting threes the analytics are terrible as his +/- on defense compounds the issue.
He lost his man half a dozen times on defense yesterday.
He’s 11-41 or 26% the last nine games. A steep decline from the first four.
Need to get healthy so we can rely on our team strenghts.
