Nice writeup. While App isn't getting many Top 25 votes (yet), it's great to see the Mountaineers compared with JMU and the regular season sweep of the Dukes mentioned.

Re: USA Today: College Basketball's Biggest Surprises
In 2007 we actually got votes for the top 25 in football after the Michigan win and they changed the voting criteria to allow FCS.
It was cool but obviously didn't last and ultimately the gap between the best FCS and the top 10 was huge. How big of a gap is there now in basketball between App and the number 10ish team? I'm going to say maybe not huge.

Considering that Auburn (current #16) won eleven straight games and moved briefly into the Top 10 this season after their trip to Boone.....Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 7:34 amIn 2007 we actually got votes for the top 25 in football after the Michigan win and they changed the voting criteria to allow FCS.

It doesn't mean that we'd go 5-5 in a 10 games stretch with them. But, we'd hold our own. And, we wouldn't finish in the bottom 3rd of a P5 conference, if we played a full conference slate.
