They played fast, but I don't think they played fast enough to break the sound barrier. That crowd sure must be able to run though!

The amphibious quote is still an all timer.

Funny, but amphibious takes the cake.

I still remember watching Cozell say that in the post game interview. I was a huge NC State fan back then.

I do believe that was Charles Shackleford

Yes, it was Shackelford. I believe it was during the ACC tournament.

I was sure it was Cozell McQueen in a postgame interview, but apparently there is a debate even among State fans as to who said it (McQueen or Shackleford), or even if it was actually said. I'm still going to go with my memory that I saw McQueen say it.

It was Lenior county's finest, Charles Shackleford. What year was it though, seems like late 80's. Easy 30+ years ago. that's some infamy right there now!

No question in my mind, it was Charles Shackleford that made the statement.

It was definitely Shack- "The reason I am so good is because I'm amphibious, I can go with my left and my right".
Something to that effect. Saturday Spillers made a great shot with his left and I asked if he is amphibious. Guess only the old farts got it.

"right hand or left, it doesn't matter, I'm amphibious."

I think that Shackleford was the amphibious one. Cozell McQueen was more of a geography major. He was from SC and when asked why he chose NC State, he replied that growing up, he always dreamed of playing ball up North.

Had to explain to my wife and kids about the amphibious quote, wife uses it way too much now.

I mean, the applications are limitless.

Cozell McQueen's nickname was milk dud because he had a big, round growth on his shoulder (I assume since birth). His real claim to fame was making a clutch layup off a missed FT to force overtime against Pepperdine in the 1983 NCAA opening game. Up until that point of the contest, he had scored exactly zero points as noted by Jim Harrick (the Pepperdine coach) in the 30 For 30 episode about the cardiac pack. State won that game in double OT to start their run to the title.

The Tennessee vs Kentucky game was more entertaining IMO.

I think you missed the point. The player said the crowd was so loud they broke the sound barrier. If I have to explain it, nevermind.
