First our offense is fine..i saw plenty of interior passing. We wont 27 games.... When have we had this much progress in basketball????
As far as the officiating ( which I thought was poor)...in the 1st half why did WF Reid not get assessed a technical for pulling Spillers down by his head?

From dumpster fire to conference championship, with an NCAA bid in between.

Here would be my only question to Kerns. Marsh seemed to be a catalyst in the waning minutes of the first half. I don’t think that he played in the second half. Why?

Excellent question. The WF fan beside me insisted it was a foul on Spillers even when the replay was shown.

Was it it Spillers or Huntley on that play? Regardless it was definitely Reid involved.

That shows restraint on our part. That could’ve cleared the benches.

I texted a few people last night early in the game that my neighbor was one of the officials. Let’s say I’m not shocked with how it was called…

The Wake player’s actions aside, Huntley did foul him prior to this. I am shocked that there were no additional fouls assessed.

Look at you ‘94….. I knew you could do it. Thanks so much! Does anybody question how much Coach Kerns loves App St? You can always question personnel descisions…. but he is pretty much a straight shooter.

I didn’t tell anyone around me because that would have started a riot.

My take:

We have come a long ways this season.
1. All of the current results are a byproduct of Kerns building this program from the foundation. He had nothing when he arrived. He owns it all. I hope we can keep him.
2. I have said for a long time, if they build it the fans will come. Well this season is proof that is true. We had a good product that was interesting to watch and they were winning games. The attendance started to reflect that.
3. We cannot expect a one year result to achieve all results. We are on an upward trajectory and are not there yet. We have to build consistency. Consistency will also yield a better reputation for rankings and post-season opportunities.
4. We are learning to win games. We need to continue this trend to learn how to win in tournament play. Everything is harder in post season tournaments. When we have been there a few times we may learn how to be stronger.
5. We can pick at many things with the team, coaching, refs, etc. but I team gave it their all throughout the season including the last game. They would not give up. I really like their efforts and commitment.
6. This team actually looked good most of the year. They played good defense and offense. Again, you can pick on specifics that can be improved but that is okay. We know we are not there but still continue to build the program. But they looked well coached and executed most of the time. They did a lot more right than wrong this year.

IF we can keep Kerns and the core players I expect more of the same next year. As someone said, this is first time and LONG time that I am anxious to see what happens next year. I always want more but based on where we came from I am very pleased with what this team achieved this year.
