Texas State is the second hottest team in the Belt behind us. That could be a massive game. Of course, it might matter less if we falter before then.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 7:44 amWe have a favorable schedule and control our own destiny. The pessimist. It would also matter less if Texas St. falters. Going to have to change your name to sadapp. :Dhapapp wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 11:54 amTexas State is the second hottest team in the Belt behind us. That could be a massive game. Speaking of, here are some notable remaining games. Texas St has us at home and at S. Alabama remaining. S. Alabama is at Marshall and hosts Texas St and Troy. Troy is at S. Alabama. Marshall hosts S. Alabama and on the road for us and Coastal. The also host ODU who always gives them trouble for some reason.
Something else to think about, we only have 4 games remaining. Troy has 5 and S. Alabama and Marshall each have 6 remaining. Texas St and Coastal only have 4 games left, but each are 2 games behind us.

Several teams with 4 losses will hopefully weed each other out to our benefit..NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:18 pmSpeaking of, here are some notable remaining games. I dont think the masses know just how important FT's are. Its not just the extra points, it steming runs, addind game pressure, and most importantly, coaching (defensively) around players who can and can't shoot. For example, if you got a floor full of guys who cant shoot FT's you can be ultra aggrsive in your D schemes and go for a lot more blocks and steels. This is one example, there are others. Anyone remember Hack-a-Shaq? We are good, but not good enough to take key players out at critical times because they are extremely poor FT shooters. Honestly, I'm surprised teams are not fouling some of our guys more.appfanjj wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 3:22 pmFree throws are important and will become more so as the season winds down and tournament(s) begin. Sun Belt teams aren’t deep enough to hack a Luke. Most teams will be in big trouble if one of their bigs get in foul trouble.AppOrange wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:50 pmI dont think the masses know just how important FT's are. Calling App Basketball ugly isn’t a dig on the program; it’s accurate. But if they're winning, do any of us care if it’s ugly?
Between baseball last spring and football last fall, we’ve had enough losing and frustration.
For my part, It’s a pleasant change of pace to see an App squad winning games.

Really just not trying to get ahead of myself. Its so tight at the top that any stumble could drop us to fourth. Of course, everyone else is in the same boat. The final standings may not look anything like they do now.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:04 pmThe pessimist. It would also matter less if Texas St. falters. It always amazes me how teams that play great defense are called ugly! Great defense is Kerns trademark. Buzz Peterson won the same way when he was in Boone.
