MBB @ JMU 2/14 4pm
Well, well, well. Since we beat JMU on 1/15 by the score of 80-65, App has gone on to win 7 of 8 games and the lone loss being a 2 point loss to ODU. JMU on the other hand has gone 3-4 over the same timeframe and has a game at home vs Georgia State tonight. 4-8 in the conference and 12-13 overall, I'd imagine they don't have much to play for other than to end the win streak against them in basketball which is currently at 5 in a row ("who's your daddy?!!!"). The last meeting, we jumped out to a 12-0 lead. JMU cut it to 4, then we pushed it back out and in the 2nd half, they never got closer than 8 and the lead never got more than 16. We shot well that day, going 13-31 from 3 (42%). Dodd and Jennings each got 23 and Marcus had 12. JMU also shot well from three, 12-30 (40%). Where we dominated them was down low and that should be how we attack them again. They only scored 9-30 inside the arc opposed to our 18-28. We held their lead score, McBride, to 6 points. Great defense, attack the rim. Don't let up, that's when we get in trouble. It seems we've learned our lesson from earlier losses against Coastal and Georgia State, so hopefully we don't see those lackluster efforts again this season.

I am excited to see "throw strikes" 55 times this season (one for each game)
Basketball equivalent for throw strikes?

This is the kind of intensity you see when you're fighting for fourth place in the Sun Belt. Other conferences could never. That's that Sun Belt HEAT.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 10:06 amLooks like things got a little heated in the Beach Chickens bball game

That game could be the difference between starting the Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday (7/8 seed) versus Saturday (3/4 seed).
The league is very tight. Someone dangerous is gonna end up in 9th and starting on Wednesday with a chance of winning up to 3 games.

CBS Sports had us as a 15 playing Iowa State. Not gonna get my hopes up yet, but it's cool to see our name in the bracket.

Surprised there aren’t more fights during Coastal games…especially in the stands…between their own fans…reenacting WWF royal rumbleBambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 10:06 amLooks like things got a little heated in the Beach Chickens bball game

Just to get our hopes up even more, Greenville, SC is hosting games in the tournament this year including 1v16 and 3v14 matchups. A couple outlets had Troy as the 14 seed playing in Greenville prior to them losing this week.
On3 Sports currently has us (16 seed) taking on Duke (1 seed) in Greenville.
That being said… one game at a time.

I’m at the Myers Park vs South Meck girls basketball game. I think I know where the Sun Belt recruits their referees from…

Of course, those seeds and locations are just projections. The NCAA will decide what seeds go where. Given Duke's proximity to Greenville, it's very likely they land there.AppGrad20 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 13, 2026 7:16 pmJust to get our hopes up even more, Greenville, SC is hosting games in the tournament this year including 1v16 and 3v14 matchups. If we are fortunate to win out, including winning SBC tournament, I believe we will be better than 16 seed. I do not see us being at 13.. but 14 or15.

I agree. Most other outlets have us at a 15 seed (which I agree with). Win out or even drop a game and we should easily be a 14 seed. The difference between the 12/13 and 14 seeds is substantial this year.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:48 amIf we are fortunate to win out, including winning SBC tournament, I believe we will be better than 16 seed. Re: MBB @ JMU 2/14 4pm
Could be wrong, however, the SBC does not get respect as it relates to basketball. Not sure we get to a 12 or 13 seed even if we win out. If we had made tournament 3 or 4 years in a row..then maybe some respect. Hopefully, I am completely crazy and we get a 12 seed..upset city baby!!AppGrad20 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 14, 2026 9:18 amI agree.
