JMU showed everyone else the game plan for beating us. Just rough us up and don't let us get in a flow. We can't make enough FT to make a team pay.

We shot 76% from the line.
22-29.
We lost on the defensive side of the ball tonight. Can’t give up 85+ points.

Of course, we had 18 wins with 5 games to go. So, in a way 19 wins is a disappointment.

Once we hit 18 I was thinking that if we are any decent we should finish with 21-22 after the SBC tournament so I agree 19 is a huge disappointment.

I will not go to the tourney until they move it to somewhere like Charlotte and we show that we can finish. I refuse to spend the money just to watch us get embarrassed ever year in the tournament.

We have hit our ceiling. Will not change until there’s more funding. The ROI for basketball is high. With most SBC schools pouring the majority of their money into football and baseball, we could realistically be the top program year in and year out with even a little more $$$.

Otherwise it’s the same cycle every year. Brand new roster, Kerns finds his 7–8 guy rotation by mid-season, start playing well, fans start paying attention, then things fall apart late due to injuries or lack of depth.

That’s not a bad summary. And DK is one losing season away from most likely being let go.

Yea what a bummer of a game. No question that Dodd not playing hurt "our offensive flow" if we had any to begin with.... I think early in the first half we tried to double Weeks and he found the open guy who inevitably made the shot. Then we tried to play small and got killed on the boards. I mean really shooting 42% for a game and made the same number of three's as them... you would have thought the game would have been closer... but they took 9 more shots and made 8 more fg's. I do think this season's rotation mostly 7, hurt us down the stretch of the season. I think Dodd and Jennings played too many minutes and it showed up the last five games. It appeared that Jennings lost his shot and confidence as did Dodd. Dodd could still manufacture points by driving (like he did tonight) and make free throws. It will be interesting how many of this team we can retain. I heard that SOAL got a NIT invite..... wonder about us. Certainly a good season... need to have an 8-9 rotation next year. Thanks boys!!!!!

Huh? You honestly think a man who has never had a losing season at App is in danger? I mean he's been to the NCAA...won a conf tourney...been to the nit..had the best reg season a couple years ago we ever had ...I mean yea it sucks that we have finished like this last couple years ...but every year we have a shot at the finishing near top of the league with kerns...idk...

Yes. I’m not saying that I agree but yes. Back to back season ending collapses makes the seat pretty warm among those few that care and fund the program.

I hate to even say this, but what’s the point anymore. There’s no loyalty, funding or not we’ll see the same turnover every year. No lightning in a bottle this year, hope for the best next year.

Dustin Kerns is 7 wins away from being the winningest App coach of the last 50 years. He has the 2nd highest winning percentage during that time and has never had a losing season.

If App willingly parts ways with Kerns, they should just fold the program. This isn't football where you can point to past success to justify some "higher standard". App basketball culture was basically dead when Kerns arrived. He has improved every aspect from student engagement, connection with former players, and on court success/identity. If you want to take the next step, invest in the program and winning leadership you already have. If you aren't willing to do it now, you never will and you can continue to enjoy a magical run every 21 years or so with a lot of mediocrity in between.

While I agree with “disappointment “ let’s Remember, two of those wins came against VA. Lynchburg and Carolina University. Put that together with losses to Felon, Mercer and UNCA, making this a bad season not just a disappointment.

Bahahahaha. Put the tournament in my backyard and I still will not go. Dude, you are the least App. St. fan in this board. Go join the 49ers message board.

Agree on the thanks to seniors. Gonna need more than $100K addition to be dominant even just for SBC

I forgot about those 3 bad losses. Shoot. Try again next year.

Hard to believe you could replace him with equal success for the the salary we have to play with.
