No Ice in Cups, Just Barbecue

Unread post by MDaniels84 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 10:53 pm

Hope that most of you get the joke regarding the name of this thread..... Just wanted to shout out to Old South Barbecue in Windy Hill, SC . Was down that way last week for work and stopped by when I smelled the wood smoke and saw their sign. Really, really good tasting barbecue for the sandlapper state . Spoke with the guy tending the fire on the smoker and told him that they must have gotten their recipe from NC. He said that the owner was from Statesville, NC and had a location in Windy Hill and another in Cherry Grove. If you are down that way, definitely worth a visit. :D

:?: Hmmmmm, from Statesville. We frequent OD and have never noticed either place. Where have they been all my life? Too busy with shrimp and oysters, I suppose. Will def check them out.

Their first location is on the left on Sea Mountain as you enter Cherry Grove. Old burger place with the big hamburger out front. It seems like they have been there for maybe 2 years now. Been several times and liked the chopped Q, ribs, and smoked wings. Their red slaw is not my favorite but the beans and potato salad are good.

Gotcha. I know the place--just never associated it with BBQ. Will check 'em out.
