West Virginia lost a real star alumnus. Hot Rod and the Mountaineers pretty much owned the SoCon back then.

They had a pretty good guard too.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Oh, Geez. I know our friend Steve Samples, aka 626steve, is in mourning over on the 24/7 board. He's a 50's-60s era West Virginian. Sad day in Morgantown and points south and west in WVA. My wife is saddened; and her family is composed of almost 99.9 percent Marshall grads. Her degrees are from ASU as her family moved from Huntington to Winston-Salem when she was a toddler. She still remembers "Hot Rod."
Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Yes, a sad day for all West BY GOD Virginians - he was the first in a line of Mountain State treasures to play at WVU – followed by Jerry West, Rod Thorn and Ron “Fritz” Williams ---
