321 construction
Has anyone heard an estimated completion date? They began blasting sections of rock in 2006...9 years...they're creeping along. Georgia State will probably win the Sunbelt before they finish.

Re: 321 construction
Watching highway construction in the NC High Country is closely akin to watching paint dry on a wall. Just don't watch if you want to keep your sanity; but the end is in sight. In sight, that is, unless the planet's worst-ever El Niño drops a record winter on WNC. And it may do so!

Re: 321 construction
from posted link to NC DoT,
"Construction began in early 2012, with a contract scheduled completion date of June 30, 2016. "
then some ambiguous statements
"July 2016 – Construction in Area I will be mostly complete. Traffic will be in the final pattern with some finish work remaining, which will have minimal traffic impact."
"Early Summer 2017 – Complete all work on the entire project (Areas I and II). "
So, it would appear that construction will continue through this football season with only 2 lanes through Blowing Rock. But, by the beginning of the 2016 season, there should be 4 lanes through BR. I realize navigating the construction is a pain, the question I have; will completing 4-lanes all the way through Blowing Rock make someone drive up for a game that otherwise would not?

Re: 321 construction
Funny you should post this; I was just there today for the first time since last year and could not believe it is not closer to done than it is.
