I just recently graduated and I was pretty disappointed with the lack of quality musical acts during my time there. The fact that legends is the only venue in town really used for concerts leaves a lot to be desired, Boone could definitely use a true venue as I think many bands would be inclined to play in the High Country. And legends could also use a renovation and better acoustics.

Thoughts?
Happy's became Legands I think in 1988. I saw the Wailers there maybe 1989. Bob Marley had been dead for a few years of course but not a bad show.

Rally Weekend (and the last one) was spring 1974. After the two day concerts it was discovered that VG had over $5K in damages not to mention used condoms under the bleachers, bent spoons and hypodermics, etc. Popular Programs was not allowed to rally again.

Actually, I think that the sign was "Welcome to Blowing Rock. Turn your clocks back 50 years"and was put on PB Scots right after it closed due to not selling enough food to go with all of the alcohol ;) What a great venue to see pure rock bands. I concur with others that Sea Level, Mothers Finest, Sidewinder, Killer Whales, Spongetones, and lots more were great !

On a true side note, we can't forget the Catalinas lighting up BKG or going to BR and taking the Spongetones.

I graduated in 72 and I can remember some great groups during RALLY WEEKEND and throughout the school year! The Four Seasons, The Allman Brothers, Stepenwolf, Rod Stewart And The Faces, The Carpenters, and many more! One of the best concerts that I saw in Varsity Gym was Junior Walker And The Allstars! I remember that the APPS would have their Spring football game on Saturday morning during RALLY WEEKEND! I really enjoyed The Doobie Brothers and Chicago concert during the Summer a couple of years ago! Man, I miss those great times!! GO APPS-GIVE EM HELL!

Tina Turner! on stage in Varsity. Does she or doesn't she wear undies while performing?

Georgia Prophets in Broome-Kirk.

Rally Weekend was great until all those kids from other campuses showed up.

Concert was great, but even better I parked in a location that got me out of the coliseum in literally 45 seconds from starting the engine.

I was back in McLeansville by 11:15.

Glad to hear they rocked G'boro as well as strongly as they did CLT! As for parking...45 seconds is a good time. I found the small side street a few years back, across High Point Rd. running away from the NW (I believe) entrance of the coliseum and parallel to the railroad tracks. It's the only place I park there now and feels *fairly safe. Parking down that street is home to the Coliseum's event staff so I always know those cars will be there long after I'm gone. It does mean I have to arrive a little early to shorten the walk up the street but that is almost always how I roll anyways and never takes more than 2 minutes. It's a concession I'm willing to make to save anywhere from $7 to $20+ on parking.

Parking was $20 for the ACC tourney. I was thinking $10 for the concert. It was also $20. Most high schools in Guilford County have graduation in the special events center. That is free parking at least.

I love Tusk (the album) and the song, but I have always liked the New Wave tinged sound of "I Know I'm Not Wrong." And Lindsey did a great job this time around.

I like how during the drum solo LB takes a seat on the stage to just be a fan for a few minutes and watch MF do his thing. A nice tip of the hat from LB to MF. I am not so naive to think that the hand-holding from LB and SN on the encore entrance is THAT authentic and a really bit of show for the fans, but in this case I do like to think that LB is just enjoying the drumming as a fan.

I like their last album "Say You Will." and though I was not expecting more than one song off this album I would have been happy for Miranda to be played. Come would make a great guiter solo though I don't care as much for the song on the album. I also would have appreciated something like "Mystery to Me" or "Sentimental Lady", but I knew this was a greatest hits of the 5 concert and that was wishful thanking on my part. I know LB hated playing anything pre-White Album when they first joined the band and I am sure that is still the case, and I am most likely in the minority of fans that would like to have heard one pre-SN/LB song played.

At their age do they have one more tour in them? Maybe, and with Greensboro being a sell-out on a workday maybe they will come through again in a few years. But if not I am glad I finally got to see the 5 on stage at one time live.

It was historic. I really enjoyed Gypsy and Silver Springs.

That did not play Silver Springs in Gboro, which I hated to miss. With Songbird off due to CM's injuried thumb Silver Springs would have been a nice closing I think.

Silver Springs was the last song. They played it a lot of passion.

My wife has been emailing The APP Marching Band Dept. for years asking them to play TUSK - suggesting inserting "APP" for "tusk" when the word is yelled --- The bit they did on the live show several years ago with the SoCal Marching Band was outstanding ---
