That is correct. App State Police officers are full officers -- not just security guards.

App State Police, not security. Two different things. And yes, as partner law enforcement agencies they provide mutual aid to one another.

My wife and drove up from Charlotte this morning and were timely enough to drive from Boone to Deep Gap before the procession that started in Winston. People lined up all the way from the Parkway bridge to Boone. Very moving. Couple mile blue light escort.

HIckory PD sent assistance as did about every neighboring county sheriff and many local town police. I am not sure if neighboring agencies sent experts in hostage situations or were there to just let WCSO do normal patrol and allow WCSO to move away from the scene for the other patrols.
