@JeffDarlington: I’m told new Panthers owner David Tepper has found his new team president: Tom Glick, who will leave his post as COO of Manchester City Football Club. Glick has experience in a number of sports both here in the states and the UK.

Great! They can be added to the list of "Teams Atlanta United will destroy," right behind Orlando and Nashville.

ATL is a city in decline

From an article I read about MLS expansion, there are only 2 expansion spots left and out of the 10 cities vying for the final two spots Charlotte was ranked dead last. The article stated that Charlotte's application was dead on arrival because the applicants were "too cheap". I read this online during the MLS Allstar game after the MLS commissioner stated at half time he wanted to get to 28 teams.

Was the article from 2016, or did they just not know what they're talking about?

City in decline? 75,000 people moved to Atlanta last year, mostly young people due to job prospects and quality of life; brand new football/soccer stadium hosting the 2019 Super Bowl; Brand new MLB stadium: totally renovated NBA arena this year; new MLS team braking all attendance records and hosted the MLS Allstar game in its second season; finalist for the new Amazon HQ;
world's busiest airport. Surely you jest.

That's for sure. i have lived here 21 years and it gets worse every year. I'm retired now and keep saying I will move back to God's Country some day but just can't bring myself to do it.

A bit dated (May 2018), but here is one list.

https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2018/05/30 ... expansion/

A more recent article: https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/new ... g-mls.html
Yeah, the original Charlotte bid was just atrocious. Now theres 12,000,000,000.00 better reasons behind the bid and a team president with experience running the city franchise. Then you get into the stats on CLT and market share/millennials/latino population, ect. and it quickly becomes a can't pass no brainer for MLS if there is a plan for a stadium that makes sense, which there is now.

I was just rustling some jimmies pal, didn't mean it. Don't let it distract you from the fact that the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead, however ;)
