Arizona Senator John S. McCain, III, a three-term U.S. Senator, a two-term U.S. Congressman, a decorated U.S. Naval aviator, a POW during armed combat in Viet Nam, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, the son and grandson of U.S. Navy Admirals and a self-described political maverick, died today--just 36 hours after declining further treatment for an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer.
