The students were irresponsible and partied, drank, and did not avoid touching their face and keeping distance. We all knew this would happen but I'm glad and hope it happens at App. If the other students are not there then our players can safely learn virtually from their dorm or apartment on campus and not have to worry about coming in contact with many people.

I can hear the lawyers sharpening their blades now. Be ready public schools who opened in NC, they'll be after you too.

I would normally be right with you but we know that positive cases (whether you have symptons or not) will hit the news and these players have to wash their hands, avoid touching face without sanitizing, keep distance, and stay away from parties if they want to play. It is easy enough to catch it and the college atmosphere makes it even easier.

We are learning the survival rate is 99.6%. I think they will be fine and the hysteria needs to stop. God forbid they jump off the dam on the watauga or rope swing on elk river. Something that actually could kill ya.

“Even with preventative measures, it would be unrealistic to expect thousands of young adults in their late teens and early 20s to properly socially distance, student leaders told Blouin since April. It’s not the fault of young adults to do the things young adults want to do,” student government senior adviser Raleigh Cury said.

That’s rich!!! So no personal responsibility will be taken by these young “adults”?!? At what age does Ms. Cury feel educated people could realistically take responsibility for their own behavior?

No one forced the students to enroll. Have they never heard of a gap year? No one forced the young adults to do what young adults do, they made the choices and as most of us know, actions have consequences.

The only gripe I agree with is the about face by the university 1 hour before the deadline of tuition cancellation. UNC should have announced a deadline extension simultaneously to help ease some concerns.

Does anyone think about what the young people were doing this summer before they arrived back in their college towns? Most likely, many were not locked in their parents basement and were hanging out, going to Cook Out with friends, dating, etc. Being at Universities is not creating a new environment, it is merely shining a spotlight on it and looking for violations and positive cases to publicize.

That person has a lot of nerve referring to themself as a young adult. Sounds like a child to me. I hope that, when folks are slamming the gun toting rednecks for not wearing a mask, these kids are properly included in the righteous condemnation.

I agree with you but all it takes is just ONE player or student to die from it and because of the current climate we would be front page news. Believe it or not I think many media outlets are just waiting to say "I told you so" to Americans if it happens. The liability is 100% the reason why the concern here. We know for a fact that at least some hospitals are encouraging their people to chart patients as positive even when negative and the numbers are inflated. The issue is until the numbers fall big time and there is a vaccine the media will pounce. This is known and therefore we just have to be careful.

Point made and agree. All good.
