For the few on this board that enjoy high quality soccer, the Euro has been a blast. England beating Germany and Spain winning in a shootout just now against the Swiss. Italy and Belgium up next. England at 3 Saturday.

Italy playing the best of anyone at the moment.

I have watched some of the games. I would watch more if the players were not faking injuries every time they got bumped on the field. It is not the low scoring of soccer that does not turn me away from watching, it is the constant fake injuries. If there were serious repercussions to lower or eliminate that issues (I game or post game reviews with potential penalty for next game), I would watch more.

Agree 100% with the flopping, it really takes away from the game and it goes against how I was taught to fight through and basically never act like anything hurt. The women don't seem to do this like the men. Regardless, the EURO has been spectacular! The Denmark story is amazing, the intensity of so many of these games has been great. The shootout between Italy and Spain! Can't wait to see England and Denmark today!

You learn to ignore the flopping. The Referee can spot a good flop. But if you ever played what tools like a little kick to a shin or foot can hurt like hell.

I watched some of the early rounds and a couple of the quarterfinals and yesterdays semi - It seems to me that there is less flopping as the tournament advances as I believe these guys playing for their country are quite serious about winning - I too, think the flopping and screaming in "pain" are so absurd - I watch the women's national team games and you rarely see the flopping - I think they are just tougher than the men ---

No, the women are just less cynical than the men.

How about when a player goes down and they take him off on a stretcher and then in a few minutes he’s magically healed?

I know they put extra time back on for injuries but what I don’t get is the clock running after a goal or during penalties and corners. There never seems to be any outcry over what appears to be delays of game.

A running clock is just part of the game. And believe me, not all players carried off on a stretcher come back in. Sometimes it takes the Physio(Dr) longer to clear an injured player for return and the refs say get em off the field. The downside for that is the game resumes for that players side a man down.

Having said that today’s England v Denmark game was a fast paced exciting game.

You want to see flopping watch Italy!
When I was a Ref I gave yellow cards for obvious flopping.

I agree. It all fell England's way playing in Wembley. How often to you see a player miss a penalty and then get the rebound and score?

That is rare for sure. The penalty though I thought was fair. VAR evidently did too. England was clearly the better side.

I guess that penalty will be the talk of Denmark for awhile, but there is no way that should have been called. You basically control the outcome of such a major game with an extremely soft call. The guy fell down, he was dribbling in traffic and lost his balance. Replay showed clearly that nobody fouled him. Are we to believe a player can no longer be touched inside the box? That would make it a lot easier for the attack! All that said, I do think England looked to be the better side, but the toughness of Denmark was fun to watch! It will be fun to watch the Three Lions bring it home on Sunday.

He was losing balance BUT he could have recovered...and the Dane holding his hands up hip checked him to finish the deal....

I would agree that England were the better side. I just didn't see the obvious foul and while VAR did agree with the on field call, I thought it a soft call. Never been much of an Italy fan but Sunday I will be. If England play like they did after the Denmark goal, they likely win but as long as Harry Kane plays for England, I'll not pull for them.
