A little over a year and a half ago I lost my father. I also lost my mother years ago but Mother's Day only adds to the feelings of love for her since it's been 29 years since she passed and the hurt, while never going away completely, tends to fade over time. Dad is more fresh and I had much more time with him. Not only was he my dad he was also my best friend. We shared many common interests and spent a lot of time together. Today just brings to the forefront the feelings I have inside and knowing I'll never be able to do those things with him again.

I want to wish a Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there and for all of you who still have a father and/or mother, cherish the time you have together. You never know when that last day will come. RIP Pop. I know you and Mom are happy again and I know I'll see you both again someday. I Love You.

I have written a time or two about my dad on this and the previous MMB. I will add one more bit that I miss about him.

The times, especially when I was older, that we would repair stuff around the house either his or my house.

It took me about a year after he died to not immediately think to give him a call if I had a question about some sort of DIY project around the house. Just the other day I had to replace some drywall due to a mold issue. I was just thinking it would have been nice to give him a call about that (still ongoing) project. He trained me well enough that I get by without him now, but it would be nice to have him give me some advice, even if at this point I know what I am doing.
