World Series time!
OK - enough of the bashing football. It's World Series time!
It comes down to the Cardinals from St. Louis versus the Red Sox of Boston.
Who takes another rings this year and why?

One game does not a postseason make.

Probably St. Louis, just because that'll make me a little more miserable about the Reds' season.havefunkc wrote:OK - enough of the bashing football. It's World Series time!

Im happy the two best teams made it, really happy that the Dodgers didn't make it, don't think I could have taken ESPN giving him Pueg 24/7 coverage, and trying to convince us that he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Boston in 7

You know... I'm not sure. It was back in 95 I think...havefunkc wrote:New Busch or Old?vegattk wrote:

Head says Cards, heart says Sawx. Sad the Sox wound up putting out the home team (Rays) and the team that spring trains down the street (Tigers), but I have to hope one of my old favorites can pull it off.
Wasn't there for a game but the new Busch is a pretty sweet ballpark.

Been to Fenway a few times. Can't beat it for 101 yr's old! Boston takes it with pitching and timely long balls.

As a YANKEE fan it is difficult to pull for the Sox, but need to pull for American league (would rather it have been Detroit). Although Boston is the most memorable park I have been, the walk up and around the park with my daughter makes it the best memory.

Lifelong BoSox fan, so pulling hard for the Boston Beards! It's a rematch of 2004, but I don't think a sweep is in the cards (no PUN intended). Get Beard!

Re: World Series time!
Living in St. Louis it's gotta be Cards all the way.
Standing on my back porch I was able to see the and hear the fireworks from Busch Stadium when they clinched the pennant. That was pretty awesome. While baseball is probably my least favorite sport, STL is a seriously maniacal baseball town - it's infectious.

Re: World Series time!
Old Busch... St. Louis tore it down and built the New Busch (2006). Right field side of the New Busch is where the old left field side of Old Busch used to stand. Great view of the Arch now in dead center. Nice upgrade for the Red Birds. If you gt a chance, go back and try the new stadium out.vegattk wrote: You know... I'm not sure. I remember watching the redbirds in the 70s' they basically played on painted concrete, and the temp on the field sometimes got up to 110 degrees, crazy dangerous!!

Indeed. I took this at the College Classic game between Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri State earlier this month.havefunkc wrote:Great view of the Arch now in dead center. Nice upgrade for the Red Birds. If you gt a chance, go back and try the new stadium out.

Can see a bit of One Metropolitan Square (tallest building in St. Louis) on the far left, the dome of the Old Courthouse, Gateway Arch, and the Millennium Hotel. It's a great view. Out behind left field is the work being done on the Ballpark Village, a mixed use area that will house the Cardinals Hall of Fame, restaurants, retail, housing.

That's how a baseball stadium should look! I have always disliked the Cardinals, but I respect their organization and the city's love of baseball.

As a Reds fan, I dislike the Cardinals during the regular season but still have much respect for the city's love and knowledge of baseball. I generally find myself pulling for them in the postseason once the Reds are out. I'm rooting for the NL and the Cards in the Series.ASUMountaineer wrote:That's how a baseball stadium should look! Hasn't been the same since Stan the Man retired.
