All-Time Cubs team... (CBS Sports)

Nice to see a sports site take some time to ponder All-Time teams. The next 30 days should be a nice read.

Day 1: Chicago Cubs.

I would agree with the writer: adding Sosa would be questionable because of the 'roids issue', but he handled it straight-up. Probably the most 'debatable' pick: Mark Prior for the pitching staff...

I would have thought they would have had Sandberg on there - I know the old guys were great but he was the best at his position for several years ---

That is an interesting concept. It's one thing to put together an all-time team, but to do so from individual seasons is something I don't think I've seen.

He mentions that Sandberg is the franchise's all time 2nd baseman. However, this is just based on the best single season at each position. Hard to not include Sutcliffe. He took them as close to the World Series as anyone has in 65+ years. There have been some ups and many downs in my life as a life-long Cubs fan including the August swoon of '69 but blowing that championship series against San Diego was a heartbreaker.

At least we don't have to put up with a lot of bandwagon fans. :)
