Continuing...

AL Central Detroit Tigers. With baseball in Motown since 1884, there are some All-Time greats here...

Decent picks. Interesting to me that Detroit's #1 issue in recent times (RP) is also there weakest piece on the all-time team. Motown is not exactly known for great Closers...

A bunch of Hall-of-Famers here (inlcuding future ones).

Can't argue with this team. I was partial to Ron LeFlore but more for his story of prison to MLB.

This was my team as a little kid in WV trying to pick up Ernie Harwell on the radio late at night and then on thru the '68 World Series when in college --- I'm sorry but I cannot accept an all-time Tigers team without Al Kaline - No Way - No How !!! :(

I would agree about Kaline. I get the premise for this list, best offensive season per position, but there are some guys that mean more to a team than stats. The Tigers are my dad's team growing up as well. Their spring training facility in Lakeland is my favorite place to watch a game. Ernie Harwell would start every game with the game time temperature in Lakeland and Detroit.

I would agree Kaline (for many years) was the heart of the Tigers (especially during the lean 50's and early 60's). Where would you put him in the best season team? As good as he was, I can't see him knocking any of the OF picks here. Maybe DH?

Ernie Harwell was the best radio announcer ever - what a voice ---

Don't forget George Kell Spelling?
Went to all the games in the 68 series in Det and St Louis. Was downtown Det for the celebration. Cops had Go Tigers bumper stickers on the back of their leather jackets. Very little damage as I remember one broken window. Al Kaline and Gordie Howe were my idols as a kid. Both gentlemen and great role models. Saw Kaline throw out Lou Brock at second base.
