I did (sort of) during the playing of the national anthem, but wasn't quite sure what it was. I even mentioned it to my wife, who was a fine athlete in her own right in another sport a few short years ago.

All of our women,
except Carli Lloyd, were standing at almost military attention, hands over hearts and singing the anthem in a fine display of patriotism. Lloyd was fidgeting and barely able to mouth a word of the anthem here and there. She had the strangest look on her face. I thought she was about to throw up. I've never seen a more intense facial expression on any athlete--male or female. My better half said "Lloyd's in her zone. Hang loose."
Four minutes into play I knew what it was. The game plan had been to storm Japan's goal early and often with set piece after set piece with Lloyd signaling or triggering the plays. During the anthem, she was already 10 minutes into the game--ahead of everyone in the stadium. She couldn't wait to get on the pitch. She was pawing the ground like an impatient, blue-blood filly waiting on the gate to open onto a fast track in a race for a multi-million dollar pay-out. She is one i-n-t-e-n-s-e and d-r-i-v-e-n woman. And lucky for USA, barring injury or illness, she isn't done yet. She'll just turn 33 next week

Christie Rampone's still playing at a high level and she turned 40 a couple of weeks ago.

Yea, I thought you could see this coming ... we were way more athletic than Germany or Japan. When Germany only had one shot on goal, that was a pretty good indicator. When we put " the pedal down" we beat anybody and everybody to the ball. Yes we did get a little sloppy when we were up 4-0, but really. If it wasn't for the own goal, the game wouldn't have been close at all. This was a team that was focused and loaded with talent and lots of speed. And it did kill.
