Coordinated cyber attack in progress?

A suspicious floor-wide halt in trading is in progress on the NY Stock Exchange. Networks are down at American Airlines, at the Wall Street Journal and at a number of Fortune 500 companies. Homeland Security types are on the case. Not funny!

NYSE is saying it wasn't a breach, but I suppose that's the same thing they'd say if it was a breach, no? And it was United, not American, Airlines, but those flights have resumed.
This definitely could have been something coordinated, and even though the effects were minor, it's a reminder that cyberattacks can have real-world consequences.

It was United and flights have resumed--but as many as 600 flights are cancelled or delayed. Passengers are chewing nails.
NYSE and WSJ are still down.
Feds still reporting no sign of malicious intent. They wouldn't tell us if all he** had broken loose unless shootings or explosions were evident. The Twittersphere is *alive* with speculation about a North Korean attack. Twitter's not a credible source.

WSJ website was down due to traffic. Could have been a DDoS, but was more likely caused by an influx of traffic looking for information about the NYSE outage. United had problems because of aging infrastructure. No other companies reported issues today that I am aware of.
It could have been malicious but was more likely just a coincidence.

It apparently garnered enough fed interest that the FBI offered their assistance.
