Got chased off the golf course by a steady rain after nine which led to some quite time to ponder this question. I’m looking for opinions and rationale. I’ll go first , Thompson Usyian. He was the most dominating player in any sport I’ve seen in college athletics, in person. That includes David Thompson and Michael Jordan. I’m not a soccer guy, but I was during those years. He was magic.

I agree. I drove 134 miles one way several times to see him play. I believe he ended up on the faculty at South Carolina. Emanuel Udogu was pretty good, too.

I agree that it would have to be done by sport to have any real meaning. The wide variety of skill-sets required from sport-to-sport would always make valid comparisons impossible. For example...try comparing Thompson's world-class speed, quickness and uncanny athletic gifts in a 6-2, 175 pound frame (maybe) versus the brute strength of a 6-5, 300 pound all-American lineman versus AE's 6-2, 180 all=American QB frame that took every bone-jarring hit the opposition could dish out and bounce to his feet clear-eyed and ready to throw another TD pass. There's no objective way to measure it. Just one person's biased opinion versus all of the other biased opinions. 🎲
