Stumbled upon a cross country event App was hosting on Friday afternoon as went to Greenway for a walk. Pretty cool to see all the schools involved. Not sure how App fared overall. However, I got there right before they came back across the covered bridge. Seemed to be quite a few App runners near the top

App men finished first with a dominating performance anchored by the overall medalist. App women finished second behind William & Mary. A good day for the program.

It's a clean sweep as the men win their 3rd straight Sun Belt title. First team to complete the trifecta since 1990 I believe is what they said.

Both teams demonstrated that its a team sport. Neither team had a medalist but both teams proved that having your top 5 finish close to one another is the key to winning.

On the women's side, Texas State had the medalist and the 3rd place runner but #s 4 and 5 were 31 and 51. UL had the 4th and 5th place runners but their final two scorers were 30 and 45. In fact, App did not have a runner in the top 10 but all five scorers were in the top 20.

On the men's side App ran away with the title even though we did not have a runner in the top three, but all five App runners were in the top 10--4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. StAte is usually our chief competition on the men's side and they did have the medalist but their next runner was 13th.

BTW, of the top 5 on the women's team, 3 are freshmen (including SBC frosh of the year) and 2 are sophomores. On the men's side four of the top five are 2 freshmen (including SBC frosh of the year) and 2 sophomores.

In the XC Southeast Regional (seems based on state the school is located in and not the conference, App State finished 16 of 33 teams for the men and our women finished 22 or 36. I am not sure if anyone moves on given the team standings and the individual finishes, though one of the men finished 43 out of 240. That might qualify. Could be timed based.

Here is why I am posting. The SB XC is listed on the men's side as 8k and the women are 5k. This NCAA was listed at 10k and 6k. I thought these courses had a standard length.

And before I posted I went a looking on the intertubes and it seems the lengths are not standard. I guess each conference can send a certain number of teams and then the NCAA can set a team cut since the NCAA lengths are standard, though it may be based on top number get to advance regardless of times. I need answers.
